It is not of the same kind even if it appears as a mistake. Because the nature of that knowledge is definitely like two moons playing opposite each other. Therefore, all phenomena that appear simultaneously are different in terms of the place and form of the object, and there is no homogeneity within. Although non-conceptual minds can know that many things arise simultaneously from various causes of appearance, conceptualization does not arise from the power of the object of apprehension, but from the cause of previous knowledge, where all others are cut off from a certain object, and only conceptualization arises there. Therefore, two conceptualizations do not occur simultaneously, but only sequentially. Although many things appear simultaneously in this way, the infinite does not appear, because ordinary sense faculties and consciousnesses cannot universally cut off everything except for a few objects. If one possesses a special sense faculty that is free from obstacles, one can also cut off the appearance of a vast object at once, and the omniscient one can also see all knowable things at once. As the Pacified Ascetics (བསེ་རུ་སྟོན་) and others said: "They see two or three thousand worlds and countless worlds." As mentioned above, if there is not even the slightest difference in the appearance of those seen, then how can it be that some say that there is an interval between the arising of different kinds of conceptualizations, and others say that there is no interval when different kinds of conceptualizations arise? It is only that one's own conceptualization speculates in that way, but things do not appear in that way. Furthermore, even for mental conceptualizations that arise solely without relying on sense consciousness, it will appear to be holding them simultaneously rather than sequentially, because there is also rapid movement at the end of an instant. Second, if many consciousnesses arise simultaneously due to the proximity of objects, then when all five objects are close at the same time, all five will be held simultaneously. If someone objects that it cannot be thought of in that way, because even if the five objects are close, it is not always the case that all five are held, but it is also seen that only one of them is held, which is harmful. The answer is that holding an object is not done solely by the collection of the object and the sense faculty, but the immediately preceding cause must also be complete. Therefore, in some cases, such as a beautiful image, the mind that is always attached to it does not hold even the meaning of sounds and other things that are close, because it is particularly attached to that image, so it does not generate the mental activity that produces the consciousness of holding sounds and other things.

Because the power of the immediate cause is lost, it is not apprehended. It is meaningless to say that this fault only exists in the way multiple consciousnesses arise simultaneously, because you believe that consciousness arises sequentially, then when the object is near, why not apprehend the five sequentially arising consciousnesses, but only apprehend one? This is something to consider. Therefore, both debaters have this argument, but I will avoid such a fault. Second, refuting the example. For example, rotating torches and sticks, etc., follow rapid movement, because they are controlled by rapid movement, so due to illusion, the damaged eye faculty as the proximate cause, will produce a continuous illusion of a wheel. For example, just as the power of riding in a boat causes the damaged eye faculty to see mountains as moving, this is an illusion, and it appears clearly like two moons. The appearance of the wheel is seen directly, not connected by knowing the prior and posterior sequence, so it is not the appearance of a wheel. Because when seeing sequentially, one does not exist when the other exists, so it is impossible to appear simultaneously. It is only recalling past experiences and then concluding "this is it." Second, refuting the views of other commentators. Refuting the argument that root-born and non-conceptual are reasons. In this way, other views are also refuted. First, some commentators on the Abhidharmakośa, such as Īśvarasena, say that because it arises from the sense organ, and because it enters through the mode of experience (indicated by "etc."), and because it does not arise from the mind, the sense consciousness of the elderly is non-conceptual like the consciousness of a child. Moreover, in order not to make the example meaningless, the reason why a child's consciousness is non-conceptual is that it has lost the sign, that is, it does not understand the sign. According to those people's view, merely because of the loss of the sign, they think there is no conceptualization, then all children's consciousnesses will become non-conceptual direct perception. If they think so, then because the cause of the sign is unrelated to the previous conceptualization, even if that child later becomes an old man, there will be no conceptualization of understanding the sign, because the cause of the sign is a mixable conceptualization.
