First, establish validity from the commitment itself. Block the proof of non-validity. First, establish validity from the sign of refutation. Establish validity from the sign of proof. First, it is the object and its refutation. First. If it is thought that ultimately the object to be measured is one, and therefore the measurer does not need other valid cognitions besides one perception, then only perception is said to be valid. You, the Lokayata, because you must say that there is no afterlife, so saying that non-existence is not the object to be measured, this is your own word without certainty. Because it is necessary to measure with validity to determine that there is no afterlife. If it is not measured as non-existent by perception, then according to your system there is no other validity. Furthermore, if one is certain that there is no afterlife, then the reason for this must be determined by validity, and if perception does not measure non-existence, then is it merely the word that there is no afterlife, and it is not certain that there is no non-existence? If it is certain that there is no afterlife, because perception does not measure non-existence, then the certainty of that non-existence itself is established as another second validity. Moreover, because there is no function of generating self-grasping consciousness for non-existence, it is not entered by the mind born from the senses. The reason for this is that the mind born from the senses is certainly born from the power of having an object to be grasped. If the sense mind arises without relying on the power of having an object to be grasped, then even if there are causes that the senses cannot grasp, such as things separated by eons and things that are very close, the mind born from the senses will still arise, because it is one that grasps without the object establishing an appearance. Therefore, this sense mind will also grasp rabbit horns and so on, because even if the object itself has no meaning of appearance, there is reason for the senses to grasp it. Therefore, saying that non-existence such as space is grasped by perception is also based on the basis of refutation being grasped by the senses, although the non-existence of the object to be refuted is grasped by the wisdom of the general characteristic, the functions of conceptual and non-conceptual are confused, and the mistake arises that it is grasped by perception, just like thinking that there is a reflection of the sky in the water. Because the sky has no shape, its reflection is impossible, but from the shape of the appearance of the object, it will be thought that the reflection of the sky is in the empty space.

It is like this. Therefore, although there are many non-existent things in this place in front of us, in the non-conceptual direct perception that trusts in it, only the things that are present in front appear, and it is impossible for anything else to appear. However, later consciousness will think, "This and this are not here," and thus distinguish many things. This is a general characteristic, but the non-conceptual itself does not have such a term. Second, refuting the answer: If it is said that for non-existent things, it is only the reversal of the sense-consciousness direct perception itself that determines that the object does not exist, then this contradicts the view of the Cārvākas themselves, or if it can be determined that it does not exist, then that is inference. How does it contradict? If the tool for determining non-existence—direct perception प्रमाण—is reversed, then the measuring tool is merely non-existent. If the measured object can be established without entering प्रमाण, then it is very contradictory, just as blue can be established without the previous grasping प्रमाण. Moreover, because there is one's own grasping प्रमाण, the measured object must be established. If the measured object can be established without प्रमाण, then the son of a barren woman, etc., will also exist. If that is the case, the non-reversed प्रमाण is actually its opposite, so it will be obtained that the pot, etc., do not exist, so it is very contradictory. Therefore, if there is no inferential प्रमाण, direct perception प्रमाण will not directly enter into non-existent things, and merely the reversal of direct perception प्रमाण cannot be the reason for the non-existence of the object to be refuted. Therefore, the term "determined non-existence" will be interrupted, so as long as there is the term of saying refutation, it is impossible to be without inferential प्रमाण. If it is said that, like a visible pot, the term "determined non-existence" here in front is confirmed by the reversal of direct perception प्रमाण, then this can only be a reversal and a subsequent cause, and there is no other choice. Merely not generating the measuring direct perception प्रमाण cannot negate everything. Visibility is the cause, and its result is the absence of the mind of direct perception प्रमाण, so the term "determined non-existence" is obtained through inference. If there is no subsequent occurrence and reversal, merely not seeing cannot establish non-existence, which has already been said. Second, proving the existence of inference from the proof-cause: Cārvākas, you also establish the existence of two प्रमाण because you can know that the minds of other students of your own exist, because the minds of others are not direct perception प्रमाण, and knowing that it exists is inference. How to infer? For speaking frankly and explaining tenets, being able to understand and follow
