Second, if ignorance and karma are also the causes of arising in samsara, why is only craving said to be the cause of arising? Although ignorance, which does not understand selflessness, is also a cause of samsara, here it is not said that ignorance is the cause, but rather that craving is said to be the cause, because craving directly projects into the continuity of previous and subsequent lives without interruption, and because it is the immediate condition without interruption from that birth. Although ignorance is generally the cause, which samsara is grasped depends on craving, the proximate cause, just as a craftsman needs tools and thread. If craving does not arise under the influence of ignorance, samsara cannot actually be accomplished, just as if one mistakes something for money because one does not recognize it, but if there is no craving, one will not take it. Karma is also not the cause, because if there is karma, there is no certainty that there will be samsara. If craving does not nourish it, karma cannot directly accomplish samsara, just as a seed is without oil. Karma also depends on craving to be accomplished; if there is no craving, even the kingdom obtained by karma will be abandoned, let alone deliberately entering the country again. Therefore, karma is created under the influence of craving, and the production of the fruit of that karma also depends on craving. Therefore, craving is the main cause for the accomplishment of samsara, so it is reasonable to say so.

Because the very nature of samsara is never established. There are also other ways of explaining it: If it is said that because samsara is permanent, there is no liberation, even if it is accepted that if samsara is permanent, there is no liberation, the proof that samsara is permanent is not established. Also, it is assumed that there is no liberation while in samsara, but it is not established that one can never be liberated from samsara. Also, if it is considered momentary, and if it is considered continuous, it is not established. Also, if it is considered ultimately, it is not established conventionally. Also, if it is assumed that there is a self, and that self is in samsara, like you outsiders, it is admitted, but according to the inner Buddhist doctrine that speaks of no-self, it is not established that there is no liberation, and so on. Although there are various kinds, they are consistent in meaning. Secondly, there are two: the actual point and the refutation of objections to it. First: If there is no self, who will suffer and who will be liberated? Therefore, no one will study the path for the sake of liberation from suffering, so the self is the basis of bondage and liberation, it must be so. If so: If there is a self, then liberation is absolutely impossible, which has already been proven. Even if there is no self, there is suffering due to clinging to a self. As long as one does not see that there is no self, one still clings to a self, has not abandoned attachment, and wanders continuously in samsara due to clinging to a self, that is, even though there is no self, it is grasped as if there is a self, and because that self is driven by the desire for happiness and the desire to be separated from suffering, one is tormented by various kinds of suffering in samsara. As long as that self still conceptually fabricates that "I am suffering," then one does not abide in the true nature of no-self and no suffering, just as when there is no snake, but the perception of a snake arises, as long as one does not see that there is no snake, one is tormented by fear and so on as if there were a snake. Therefore, even if there is no truly existent self of the liberated one, in order to destroy the inverted imputation that there is a self that is the basis of happiness and suffering, the Buddha taught to strive for the true meaning of no-self, and liberation is obtained from perfecting the habituation to that meaning, therefore liberation from no-self is perfectly reasonable. Second, detachment does not remain in samsara, and the first path abandons non-existence. First, the actual point and the elimination of doubts about it. First, craving is the cause of samsara.
