Therefore, the qualities inherent in the elements—earth, water, fire, and wind—such as attachment, and the differences that cause these qualities to be strong or weak, which are subject to increase and decrease, can also be explained in terms of the specific characteristics of the elements. Thus, it is not the same as the warmth of fire. Secondly, the inseparability of fire and warmth can serve as an example to illustrate how the qualities of earth and other elements are inseparable from attachment and other emotions. However, if it is argued that they are not the same and therefore cannot be used as an example, it can be countered that even distinct things can be inseparable. For instance, form and touch are different from the elements but cannot be separated, and the qualities of the elements are similar. If it is argued that this example does not necessarily mean that the presence of elements implies the presence of attachment, because form and other such things are not different in essence from the simultaneous elements, then it is incorrect to assume that attachment and other emotions exist inseparably from the elements. Attachment, hatred, pride, and so on would all arise simultaneously with the formation of the body, without any sequence. If that were the case, then attachment, hatred, and other mental states would have to arise constantly and uninterruptedly, which is impossible. If it is argued that they do not arise simultaneously because the objects of attachment are not always present, then it must be understood that the objects of attachment have no inherent existence. One regards an object as having qualities, and unless one's own mind perceives the object as something to be attached to, the mere object does not generate attachment, as has been analyzed many times before. Therefore, the attachment that arises within the sphere of mental consciousness is something that occurs because the object is perceived as desirable. The mere existence of objects such as form is not a definitive cause for the arising of attachment and other emotions. Thirdly, if attachment and other emotions arise solely from the body and not from prior habitual causes, then because the prior causes of similar types are absent, there would be no certainty that attachment, hatred, and other emotions would have varying degrees of intensity. Alternatively, since the body, as the cause, is always present, attachment, hatred, and all other mental states would arise constantly and without distinction in all beings at all times. Secondly, regarding the characteristics or aspects of the truth of suffering: impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. Firstly, the aggregates that are characterized by suffering are due to the occasional interruption of objects and times.

Therefore, it is impermanent. Secondly, such momentary aggregates of grasping are painful because they are the basis of the faults of karma, afflictions, and suffering in each moment, like diseases, tumors, and poisonous food. Moreover, because they arise from the causes of past karma and afflictions, they are dependent on others, like slaves, and therefore are also painful, as it is said, "All dependence is suffering." Even if one does not want to be the basis of faults, it arises from the power of causes. Thirdly, such numerous and momentary aggregates are not self, because they are impermanent, dependent on others, and exist in many parts. Therefore, there is not even a particle of a permanent, single, independent self or an independent entity. If it does not exist, then the eyes and so on are not blessed or controlled by it, so they are not mine either. Fourthly, regarding this, there are two aspects: the object and its reason. Firstly, the cause that produces such momentary aggregates is not self, because the self itself is not established. Even if it is not the cause of production, the self that controls or blesses it does not exist elsewhere, because it is not established, so the aggregates are empty of that self. Secondly, those who assert the existence of a self say: It is unreasonable to say that there is no self that produces or controls the aggregates, because the permanent self that blesses If it does not exist, the aggregates should not exist either, just as without a person, his dwelling and place are impossible. Therefore, the permanent self produces all these aggregates and becomes their master. If you say so, how can the permanent self be the cause of the aggregates? Because the permanent does not have the ability to function. Because it is permanent, it is impossible for many different results to arise sequentially at different times from the one that has no parts of direction and time. If there is no self, there is no self-continuum of aggregates and no enjoyer of objects. Therefore, it is also unreasonable to infer that the cause of the aggregates that are enjoying objects in this way is the self, because it is impossible to infer that the permanent is the cause. What is the reason for that? Because when a phenomenon like eye consciousness arises, even if other dependent causes such as intention and dualistic grasping are gathered, the result
