If asked, how can one and the same give rise to various different states? Because it does not depend on the body, that is, the body is not the proximate cause, but some previous consciousness becomes the cause of awakening the habits of the appearance of things, etc., of some later consciousness, therefore, some different consciousness can give rise to some different consciousness. The reason why it turns into various different states is that the very nature of consciousness itself is capable of holding various kinds of objects. Moreover, since it arises according to the proximity of conditions, from the previous same kind of consciousness, later different consciousness can also arise. Alternatively, it can also be applied to the case of mere mental discrimination that does not depend on the body. Second, regarding the proof of the existence of samsara. Refuting the refutation of things and this. First, that which is not consciousness is not the proximate cause of consciousness, therefore samsara is also established. Because consciousness does not arise without a cause, and it is impossible not to be momentary, so the moment cannot arise without relying on the previous one. Moreover, it has been argued that its proximate cause cannot be anything other than consciousness itself, such as other earth, etc., therefore, its beginningless continuum is established. Second, although it is impossible to deny by reasoning that non-consciousness is not the proximate cause of consciousness, if it is thought that all these things have the ability to generate consciousness, therefore they are the proximate cause of consciousness, so it is not that there is no proximate cause. Then, what is meant by having the ability to generate consciousness? If it is said that there is no consciousness at all, then it has been refuted that there is no ability. If it is said that there is consciousness, but it is not manifested, it is a subtle aggregate of action, then, what is called the aggregate of action, according to your view, just like a lamp and light, the body depends on the mind, which is obvious, if this exists in all things in an inconspicuous way, then, is it possible for the whole thing to become an obvious sentient being? Or, is it possible for each part to become a sentient being? According to the first case, the whole thing must become a sentient being, which is impossible and will not be admitted. According to the second case, even the tip of each thing, such as a very small blade of grass and a single hair, will arise

Because there are many dusts, there will also be a hundred elephants there, even if they are not manifest now, but because there are sentient beings that can manifest now. If that is the case, then there are things that no one has ever seen or not seen in this world before, saying that is the Samkhya school that posits the effect in the cause, besides the shameless livestock, who with shame would strive to say such unreasonable words, one should not strive. Therefore, Charvaka, you yourself claim to be the crown jewel of logicians, because you want to deny things that have not been actually seen, and do not accept inference as valid, so admitting that there are things like this that you have never seen is beautiful, please tell me. The reason why it is unreasonable like this is that even if the very top of the root cause is analyzed and studied a hundred times, if the nature of the thing that appears now, did not appear in the cause stage before, then how can the fruit like a hundred elephants etc. exist from now on, it is very unreasonable to say that. Third, arising from the absence of samsara, refuting the newly born sentient beings. There are three parts: summary, explanation, and conclusion. First, if the mind of sentient beings is said to be new and arises from the earth etc., then from that reason, there is no certainty that there will be attachment, hatred, arrogance, intelligence, etc., and sometimes it may not be complete, because it is like thinking that the difference in the body of a person only arises from arising, so the bodies of beings have various differences, and the senses are also complete and incomplete. Just as there are various senses etc., similarly, its dharma mind may also have various possibilities of having or not having attachment, but all beings, although there are differences in senses and postures, have not seen detachment from attachment and detachment from hatred etc., so there is harm. Second, thinking that only arising is the cause is too much. The difference in arising is unreasonable. First, because all sentient beings have not gone beyond the nature of arising, if it is said that all sentient beings have attachment, hatred, etc., and it is impossible to be without these, then all sentient beings are great with attachment etc.
