Ga pa yin no. Secondly, examining growth involves the manner in which things and their exclusion of others occur. Firstly, it concerns things and the refutation of responses to them. Firstly, while the elements of the body remain in an excellent and undiminished state, the distinctions in the activities of the inner mind cause wisdom, loving-kindness, and so forth to become excellent, and sometimes they also diminish. It is seen that although there is no distinction in the support, there is a distinction in what is supported, such as the light of a lamp, the shadow of the body, and the sprout of a seed, etc., which are not present in those that depend in the manner of cause and effect. Therefore, it is not necessarily the case that mind arises solely dependent on the body. Secondly, it is said that as the body grows through the intake of nutrients, etc., the mind, such as wisdom, also becomes distinct, so it is also seen that mind arises from the body. Even if the body grows and is balanced, the mind becomes more distinct than before, but when the elements of the body are balanced through the intake of nutrients, etc., and this is taken as the object of apprehension, the feeling of pleasure arises in the cycle of bodily consciousness, and when one abides without distraction, the habitual activities of crafts, etc., increase in strength, and thus the mind becomes distinct. When the elements of the body are balanced and the distinctiveness of inner touch is taken as the object of apprehension by bodily consciousness, the mind that arises in dependence on it also takes it as the object of apprehension. Without the mind, which is distinct from the body, benefiting itself, the mere growth of the body does not make the mind distinct. If it is not taken as the object of apprehension by the mind, even if the body grows, virtues will not arise in the mind from it, and even if it declines, faults will not arise from it, just like the body of another. Therefore, the body is not the immediate cause for generating a continuum of similar types of mind, but it is a cooperative condition that provides benefit. Therefore, in the case of minds of inappropriate attention and some assemblies, the minds of attachment, hatred, etc., increase due to causes such as the growth and decline of the body. This arises from sequentially taking the pleasant and unpleasant feelings of the body as the object of apprehension by the mind, and it is not necessarily the case that attachment arises merely from the growth of the body, just like the Arhats. Hatred also does not necessarily arise from the decline of the body, just like the patient ascetics. The inner touch is also the balance of elements and

The word "etc." refers to any uneven tactile sensations, which are internal meanings. Because the internal is of one's own body, and is the object of perception for body consciousness and mind consciousness. Such an internal meaning is close to the object of one's own mind, and from existence, differences in mind arise, and so on, that is how they arise. Secondly, the way it refutes others is: Taking the tactile sensation arising from one's own body as the object of perception, the reason for showing the arising of feelings of pleasure and pain, from which differences in mind such as attachment and aversion arise, is like the aggregation of epidemics, alcohol, and poisons, etc., which cause loss of memory, ignorance, and distraction, etc., which is also said in meaning as just mentioned, that is, from the body to the mind, all the differences that arise are internal meanings, and the differences in tactile sensation are taken as the object of perception, and the body and mind consciousness will transform it into a state different from before. For example, in some previous continuum differences, hearing "it is a tiger" and seeing the blood and corpses of others injured, etc., will successively cause the mind to become faint, memory to be lost, and to waver, etc., and differences will arise that are different from before. Although those objects of perception are not the immediate cause of one's own mind, they will become cooperative causes, and it is like that, similarly, seeing beautiful forms and generating desire, etc., all these differences in objective conditions should also be understood in this way. Secondly, for reality and others, that is unreasonable. First, showing that it is unreasonable as the immediate cause of body and mind arising simultaneously, therefore, the established reason, one's own tenet is like this, it must be uniquely determined, the mind that is the cause, is the very one that follows the previous habitual actions of itself, the present mind, if the mind of such a previous cause does not exist, it will definitely not arise, therefore, the mind depends solely on its own immediate cause. Secondly, if the previous habitual actions are not followed, but only the body is followed, then how can one rely on the mind itself, from hearing scriptures and the skillful arts, etc., the previously existing habitual actions, even if interrupted by a long period of time that has not manifested in between, how can
