Then, why can't it be made imperishable? Because that is much easier than that. Secondly, if, for example, things like water and generality already exist, just as they rely on containers and substances, since the dependent and the depended are manifestly seen, it cannot be denied, if you say so. Then, for this dependent of water and so on, the above reasoning is the same. Because the simultaneous container does not act as a dependent for water itself to exist or not exist. Then, haven't you seen in the manifest appearance of the world that the container relies on water? That is because it is not carefully examined, but relies on convention to make designations. Because things like water are destroyed every moment, the dependent does not make it exist for that moment simultaneous with itself. However, the continuum of momentary things arising continuously in a similar kind, the later and later ones arising in the same way as the object of the previous and previous ones, the reason is those dependents. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider containers and so on as dependents. The moment arising from the water's own directly appropriating cause, meets with the moment of the simultaneously co-emergent condition container, and thus, outside of that, a moment of water arises that is the same as the previous object of action. Therefore, when these two are separated, a similar kind of water arises in another place. Although simultaneous meeting does not make each other exist, the difference between the cause of co-emergence and the meeting causes the later similar kind to produce a special object of action. Therefore, in this way, by giving help through the relationship of that arising from that, the dependent and the depended are established. However, foolish worldly people mistakenly think that help is given simultaneously. If it is not like that, then the term dependent and depended is not reasonable at all, because it is impossible to rely on. Furthermore, the obstruction of water and so on flowing downwards is caused by the dependent, therefore the container can be considered as the dependent of water and grain and so on. But, what dependent is needed for qualities, generality, and actions, which are of a nature that does not go to another place with its own essence? Therefore, admitting that the dependent of these three is substance is meaningless. Through this reasoning of examining the existence or non-existence of the dependent, the mind is in accordance with the body.

Aggregation, and the body is also the cause of the mind's corresponding aggregation. Furthermore, kinds and merits, etc., are also like this, relying on the power of corresponding aggregation, so that the dependent and the depended upon can abide. This very commitment, because it establishes the absence of a simultaneous dependent, is refuted by this reasoning. That is to say, the opponent believes that the reason for the thought of "this is this" arising for cotton thread and cotton cloth, cows and horns, and intelligence, matter, and kinds, etc., is corresponding aggregation, and promises that the cause of corresponding aggregation is matter, etc. Like this, the commitment to the dependent and the depended upon due to the power of corresponding aggregation is also established as being refuted by the above reasoning. Second, examining the arising and ceasing of the dependent: refuting by examining the manner of ceasing; refuting by examining the manner of increasing. First, if the entities of intelligence, etc., which depend on other causes, cease, then what function does its abiding cause have to make it abide? Because it does not need to abide before encountering, and cannot abide after encountering. If the entity ceases by itself without other causes, then the causes of abiding have absolutely no power to make it abide, because it cannot make it abide. If it could, then all things with a dependent should possess abiding, because the dependent makes it abide. And, all that arises is with a dependent, because all qualities, etc., depend on matter, and matter depends on the eternally permanent atoms, and intelligence, etc., also depend on the eternally permanent self, so ultimately there is nothing in your system that does not depend on the permanent, therefore the dependent makes all these abide, so all things will never cease at any time, therefore all become permanent. Furthermore, if the object to be depended upon is itself of a nature that ceases, then it cannot be made to abide, so what other thing can make it abide? If it is not of a nature that ceases, then what other thing can make it abide? Because it does not need to be made to abide, so there is no other thing that can make it abide. Thus, these reasonings that have been shown refute the view that the body is the dependent of the mind that is simultaneous with itself, and this reasoning applies universally to all simultaneous dependents and depended upon.
