Etc. faults, Having faults and not having faults, but since the valid cognitions of direct perception that ascertain these in all aspects are difficult to obtain, it is said that it is difficult to discern whether someone is an outstanding person, this is known by others, i.e., Buddhists think so. The faults and virtues of others' minds are not truly manifest to ordinary people, nor are they obvious. Inference also does not have the sign of self-nature, because self-nature is what needs to be proven. The expressions of body and speech that arise from faults and virtues must be resultant signs, but in most cases, linguistic expressions are premeditated, so they can also be changed, so it is only the intention of the person, there is no certainty that external behavior and internal thoughts are consistent, because people have all kinds of thoughts, and even from small faults and virtues, one cannot find complete signs of manifestation. Therefore, if one wants to correctly prove a person's words, then it is reasonable to prove a person's purity with non-human words, as it is said, "Do not rely on the person, but rely on the Dharma." Secondly, if so, does it mean that there is no valid cognition to measure a faultless person? No, it is not, because one's own antidote increases and decreases, and when the antidote decreases, that person becomes outstanding, i.e., relying on special increase, all faults such as attachment have increase and decrease, therefore, because it inherently possesses the opposite of self-abandonment, the antidote such as selflessness, when habituation reaches its extreme, the stream of consciousness will transform into the nature of the antidote, therefore, the differences in some streams of consciousness, their leaks, i.e., all the afflictions that leak and fall in samsara by this, have the possibility of being exhausted. If it is said that just as attachment and so on, which have been familiar since beginningless time, can also be destroyed by the antidote, then for the mind that has transformed into the state of the antidote, if the object of attachment and so on still exists, then the possibility of the afflictions arising again also exists, then it will not arise again, because even without relying on effort, it will not regress, just as a Brahmin who is accustomed to cleanliness will not touch unclean things. Even if effort arises, it will not regress, because if one tries to prevent it through effort, one must think that the antidote has faults and the opposite has virtues, but this is impossible for this situation, because the antidote is selflessness.

Because that (wisdom) has no fault of harm whatsoever. If it is said that there are none of the three harms—the harm of evil as the cause of binding the mind, the harm of suffering and discomfort that afflicts body and mind, and the harm of weariness from merely tasting conditioned happiness—it is because, in sequence, upon seeing selflessness, there is no attachment or the like that binds the mind; and it does not generate any suffering that depends on attachment or the like; and there is no reason for weariness with the utterly peaceful, unconditioned, and excellent happiness. Although there is no harm in this way, if the object it grasps is not the true meaning, then upon seeing the harm of reasoning, it might revert. However, what it sees is the true reality of the way things are, so it does not revert from such grasping. Even so, if one thinks that due to forgetfulness or the like, it might sometimes grasp the opposite side, that is not possible, because when habituation reaches its ultimate extreme, the mind becomes the very nature of that antidote. Therefore, in such a situation, even if one tries to turn it to the opposite side, such as grasping at a self in a perverse way, it will not revert, because the mind holds to that antidote side and does not let go. Just as when someone afflicted by cold relies on fire, even if one tries to make them grasp that the fire is cold, they will not grasp it; or when seeing a place where there is no snake, even if one tries to make them grasp that there is a snake, it will not arise; or with a father to whom one is accustomed, even if one tries to make them grasp that he is not the father, they will not grasp it. Please apply the examples in sequence. Even if that is so, if one thinks that harms are limitless and their causes are also limitless, so it is impossible to abandon all of them, then, like this, all the faults of samsara arise from the view of the perishable aggregate that grasps at self and what belongs to self, because without grasping at self, no fault can harm. And that grasping at self is merely an imputation of conceptual thought arising from ignorance that does not understand the nature of things as they are, and it is not true. Such ignorant grasping at self, even though the object does not exist, generates attachment to the appearance of self and what belongs to self. From that, there arises hatred that torments the mind in every way towards what is taken as one's own side, and pride that arises from one's own high position, and jealousy that is intolerant of others, and so forth, the afflictions.
