To counteract the certainty of subsequent occurrence, and to counteract the confusion of the uncertain, one states the certainty of reverse pervasion. The certainty of those pervades depends on the connection and is definitely established by valid cognition. The second has six subcategories. First, stating the words of dissimilar conjunction becomes a meaningless fault: To counteract the confused uncertain, whatever is the statement of proof in dissimilar conjunction, if it is merely the result or necessity of showing again what has not been seen by both disputants without certainty, then even without stating that word, each will realize that it does not exist in the dissimilar side, because the mere fact of not seeing it has already been established. If one considers that word meaningless, it contradicts what is said in the "Door of Reasoning": "For the time being, whatever is stated as a countermeasure against contradiction and uncertainty is reasoning." For example, when establishing sound as impermanent by being produced, whatever word of similar conjunction is made to establish subsequent occurrence, such as "impermanent like a pot." Whatever word of dissimilar conjunction is made to establish reverse pervasion, such as "whatever is permanent is not produced, like space." As it is stated to be established. Therefore, if only what is not seen is shown by that word of dissimilar conjunction, then even with the words "the sign does not exist on the dissimilar side," one cannot know that the sign exists only on the dissimilar side, or definitely does not exist, because it is merely a statement. If it is not merely stating that it does not exist, but stating the reason for how it does not exist, from the relationship of what is to be established and what does not arise if it does not exist, stating the reason why one does not know that the sign exists on the dissimilar side, then at that time that word will be understood to definitely not exist on the dissimilar side. So it is said. Second, the remainder also becomes a fault of being without confusion: If the teacher thinks that the reverse can be established by merely not seeing, and the reverse can be established by not seeing, then inferring from one fruit that one has eaten that the remaining fruits are the same in terms of taste, potency, and ripeness. If this remainder is also a confused one, then the remaining fruits are the subject, the taste is sweet, because it has the same color as this sweet fruit, or it grew from the same tree as this eaten one.

If something like "being born" is posited as a reason, because the proponent at that time did not see that the reason is not a sweet fruit. It cannot be thought so, because it contradicts what is said in the Compendium when refuting the remainder of those with reason, "The form is the same, it is not the same as not eating taste, etc." Therefore, such a reason is an uncertain remainder, so what is to be proven cannot be established. Third, the case of being a living knower becoming too extreme is: If the counter-pervasion is established merely by not seeing the reason in the dissimilar side, then what those with reason, etc., consider to be merely the opposite will also become a correct reason. For example, if it is posited that "a living body is with self, because it has life," because in the view of that opponent, the property of the subject has been established, and on the dissimilar side, the selflessness does not see life. If you think so, it contradicts what is said in the Compendium when explaining the nine properties of the subject, "The remaining five are not necessarily reasons or contradictions, but are temporarily the cause of doubt." Therefore, such a reason is an uncommon uncertainty, because all living bodies have become the knowable side, so there can be no similar example, and there is no prevention for the selflessness to have life, so certainty cannot arise from the dissimilar side. Fourth, the case of doubting the counter-pervasion also becoming too extreme as a reason is: Just as the teacher said that the four properties of the subject are not established, the subsequent counter-pervasion should not be said to combine the meaning of the example in that way, because it is enough to merely not see the counter-pervasion, even if there is doubt, it is thought that the counter-pervasion is established merely by not seeing it. If you ask how it should be combined and said, then the property of the subject should be definitely grasped by both the opponent and the counter-opponent. Similarly, for those that exist on the similar side and do not exist on the dissimilar side, they should also be stated appropriately. The treatise says that for the property of the subject, the four cases where neither the opponent nor the counter-opponent establish it, or either one does not establish it, or it is not established due to doubt, or the basis of the subject is not established, and similarly there are four for the subsequent, and the first three are combined for the counter-pervasion, and the faults are stated appropriately. Fifth, the case of what is heard becoming too extreme to refute both sides is: The property of the difference of sound alone, such as what is heard, is what completely cuts off both permanent and impermanent.
