And similar meanings occur continuously, and internal wisdom is unclear and tainted by evil sectarian views, etc., external and internal causes of error obstruct, leading to wrong clinging. Therefore, for one aspect, there is no duality of appearing and not appearing, because seeing any object like sound is actually seeing all the qualities that are identical to its essence, such as being made and impermanent. However, due to the obstruction of error, it is imputed in a reversed way, just as seeing sound as impermanent, etc., and it is not definitely determined that sound is impermanent, etc. Therefore, it is also reasonable to fully engage in something like proving that sound is impermanent by means of a sign. This is a concluding verse. The second part is: The establishment of a sign is reasonably an elimination. It is shown that the non-establishment of a sign is also an elimination. The first point is: As such, in the process of establishing through proof, there is no aspect of seeing or not seeing, but in the elimination and establishment of conceptualization, there is a way of having it, which is not only a general explanation. Moreover, if one clings to the self-character of an object from subsequent inference by way of establishing it, then since one dharma to be established becomes definite, it would follow that all dharmas that are identical in essence to that to-be-established are clung to, the reasoning being the same as before. If one accepts this, then other inferences would become meaningless. If you say, "Then you are the same," it is not the same. Because the inference that cognizes sound as impermanent only establishes the elimination of what is different from sound being permanent. Since that inference does not establish by way of its own object appearing, this fault does not necessarily become a consequence for saying that the object of inference is an elimination or negation, because the object of imputation can be different. Inference establishes through elimination, therefore, as stated before, all signs are either objects of cutting off what is not that, or of eliminating imputation, which is very clear. If one thinks that sudden inference is uncertain because there was no imputation before, then even if smoke is suddenly seen, it eliminates the direction without fire, so it is not that there is nothing to be eliminated. If, other than the sign being an object of elimination, we also want to cling to the way of establishing the self-character of an object through inference, then if the subject of dharma, such as sound, is established, then what need is there to establish other unestablished things, such as impermanence, etc., with other signs? The reasoning is the same as before. Therefore, we do not accept it that way. The second point is that even if the sign is not established, as long as it is conceptualization, it is elimination and establishment.

To prove this, some people think like this: The definite knowledge generated by direct perception is not eliminated, because its superimposition has already been eliminated by the previous direct perception. For example, what is seen by direct perception, such as blue, etc., what is later recognized is a conceptualization with the aspect of general meaning, or a conceptualization that grasps the general meaning, not a non-conceptualization that grasps the self-character. It does not superimpose other parts such as not-blue on the object, and just because of this, it becomes the object of eliminating the superimposition of not-blue, etc. Because the two, the certainty of being blue and the superimposition of not being blue, are the nature of mutually harmful entities. Since these two cannot exist simultaneously in one continuum, wise people should know that this definite knowledge is precisely entering into the absence or elimination of the opposite superimposition. Second, refuting the fault of sound and consciousness becoming multiple, refuting the answers of reality and its faults. First, in order to eliminate the superimpositions on the parts of sound such as permanent, non-created, etc., there are as many definite discriminations as there are superimpositions, and the sound expressing it is also just as much or definitely that much. If it is definite, then these sounds and consciousnesses are suitable to have different objects. Otherwise, if it is not eliminating different objects, but the things such as created, impermanent, etc. are unique, that is, the uniqueness without parts on the self-character of sound, then the sound expressing it or the consciousness knowing it, by establishing in one way, completely obscures, then these sounds and consciousnesses are not other and other objects, or not entering into different objects. Therefore, the sounds and consciousnesses of created, impermanent, etc., if there is no different meaning to be expressed, then it will necessarily become multiple, because no matter what is expressed, everything is understood as everything, without difference. Second, refuting the other party's answer that this fault is not established: According to the view of some non-Buddhists, just like sesame seeds sticking to a ghee ball, there are various dharmas on one dharma nature, existing without mixing. When holding them with consciousness, the sound of meaning with various differences such as created, etc., holds the sound through the ability to benefit different characteristics.
