It is called "the appearance of the result that contradicts nature." There are two types of results that contradict the cause, making a total of eight. These are all because one does not understand or does not perceive one's own nature or connection, and through the method of combining classifications of non-understanding with the appearance of contradictions, they are merely subtle differences. In essence, they are all the same in that they negate the absence of the object of negation itself. Among them, an example of the cause not appearing is: There is no smoke in this place because there is no fire. Similarly, apply "this place" to all situations. An example of the pervader not appearing is: There is no Shapa because there is no tree. An example of nature not appearing is: There is no smoke because it is invisible. An example of the cause and contradiction appearing is: There is no down that produces a cold effect because it is close to the fire. An example of the pervader and contradiction appearing is: There is no touch of hail because there is fire. An example of nature and contradiction appearing is: There is no cold touch because there is fire. An example of the appearance of the result that contradicts nature is: There is no cold touch because there is strong smoke. An example of the appearance of the result that contradicts the cause is: There is no down that produces a cold effect because it is suppressed by strong smoke. For example, even when compared to a contradiction (such as the flame of incense), because one cannot know whether the cold touch exists in its pervading part, if one grasps its nature or the characteristics of the result, there will be no such error. Therefore, the four mentioned earlier are here divided into eight only through the method of combining classifications. In the Pramāṇaviniścaya, on top of that, it is added: There is no unimpeded ability of the cause of smoke because there is no smoke, which is the result not appearing; and there is no unimpeded ability of the cause of cold because there is fire, which is the appearance of the contradiction with the result. Adding these two together, a total of ten are mentioned. That is to say, nature not appearing is the non-appearance of one's own nature. The three of cause, pervader, and result not appearing are the non-appearance of the related place, and the remaining six are the appearance of contradictions. In the Tarka-bindu, on top of that, the appearance of the contradiction's pervader is added, making a total of eleven. For example, for those who say that things that arise are bound to perish, the example of destruction relying on other causes is used as a sign of appearance. In reality, this refers to any mutually exclusive

If any compatible pervasion can be identified, its opposite can be excluded, because its pervasion is directly opposed to the other. Therefore, the sign and the object to be negated cannot coexist because of opposition. It is impossible to directly make mutually exclusive things the sign and the object to be proven. For example, "Sound, subject, is not permanent, because it is impermanent." Like this, if it is directly determined to be impermanent, it cannot be proven that it is not permanent, because the sign and the object to be proven are not different. Therefore, by identifying the pervasion of mutual exclusion, the opposite of the pervasion of that sign can be prevented. This is called contradiction by means of valid cognition. In reality, for example, proving that sound is not permanent through effort, if considered from the aspect of decisively negating that sound is permanent, it exists there. As it is said, if non-apprehension is grasped in the manner of completely cutting off non-apprehension, there is no contradiction in including it as a sign of nature. Thus, for apprehendable non-apprehension, there are four types: cause, pervasion, nature, and result non-apprehension. For contradictory apprehension, by means of apprehending the nature of contradictory fire, the four types of cold, the result of cold—goosebumps, the direct cause of cold, and the pervasion—the touch of snow can be prevented. The contradictory result—thick smoke billowing—is combined with those four objects of negation. By means of apprehending the pervasion of contradiction—sandalwood fire, those four can be prevented, totaling twelve, and some say sixteen. Some say that pervasions like sandalwood fire should be counted separately, but since the types of fire are infinite, they must be combined, which is unreasonable. However, in the classification of combination, since it is combined with only one pervasion, everything else is the same, so it does not become necessary to combine them separately. Moreover, this combination is also a correct expression, and the scriptures also say to combine the pervasion with the object of negation, so there is no contradiction in combining it with the pervasion, so there is nothing unreasonable in Jetaari's view either. Furthermore, Tsang Nakpa and other Tibetan scholars have said that by identifying the direct cause of fire, the four ways of combining to prevent the first four are said, but it cannot be excluded by cause alone. Sakya Pandita and others have already well proven that the unimpeded ability and instant cannot be determined as a sign. Second, the way the three modes of a valid sign are not mistaken.
