I exist. Similarly, by smelling the fragrance of lotuses, one can know that their shapes etc. exist. From the color etc. of brown sugar, one can know that it is sweet, and so on. That is to say, without the effect of the previous taste etc., there would be no present taste. If the taste itself does not have the cause of producing other things such as shape etc. that are the same as it, it will not arise either. That is to say, the previous taste is the immediate cause of the later taste, and the shape etc. are the co-arising conditions of the later taste. Shape etc. are the immediate causes of their respective later ones, and taste etc. are the co-arising conditions of other things. Therefore, the present taste can also make one know that the past taste and the shape etc. that are the same as it exist. It can also be determined that other particulate substances such as shape etc. that are simultaneous with oneself exist at that time, not in the future, because the taste may be interrupted, so there may be mistakes. Such a principle is called arising from the sign of the fruit determined by the relationship of arising from that, because it is by taking the relationship of different natures of things helping each other as the reason to understand what is to be proved. Because the relationship of arising from that requires arising one after another, if it is thought that understanding other things that are simultaneous with oneself does not conform to the relationship of arising from that, then, although it is not actually arising from that, it is understood from the relationship of not arising without each other, so it is said to arise from the sign of the fruit, because this is determined from the relationship of arising from that. If it is thought that this is not the characteristic of the sign of the fruit, there is no fault, if analyzed carefully, the present inseparable aggregate is the nature of one fruit produced by the previous inseparable aggregate, therefore, in reality, it is because the power of the cause produces the inseparable aggregate of the fruit, and it has become the object of understanding. The reason why this sign becomes a correct inference is ultimately the key that the power of the previous cause throws the aggregate in one direction. Second, to show that some inferences accepted by other outsiders are incorrect. An incomplete cause cannot infer the effect, and merely because it is not seen, the counter-pervasion cannot be established. First, the logicians think that inferring the effect from the cause has prerequisites.

If it is said that such a sign of expression is not included here, then inferring that the aggregation of causes can produce results is already explained as the sign of nature. If the causes do not aggregate, then whatever result is definitely inferred subsequently is called having "the remainder of proof," because that alone does not have the power to accomplish the object to be proven. For example, just as from the existence of a body, the existence of desire is inferred. Similarly, the existence of faculties and the existence of intelligence, etc., are also representative. Even if that sign is not seen in the distinctions of detachment, such as earth and stones, it is not accomplished by that alone. Although the body with attachment can be the cause of desire, for those who have abandoned self-grasping or are without attachment, it is not certain that desire will arise merely from the existence of the body, because it is a body that does not aggregate with improper attention, etc. Like a seed without moisture. Similarly, apply it to the faculties, etc. Second, if it is said that there is no reason to infer the particularity of the cause from the generality of the result, then such a reason is not correct. Like this, even if that sign does not have a determinant that refutes it in the dissimilar side, understanding it as a reason merely because one has not seen it is an appearance of valid cognition. Similarly, from seeing the generality of the result, such as smoke, inferring the particularity of the cause, sandalwood fire, is also considered an appearance of valid cognition. This is mistaken, just as some practitioners infer from speech that the speaker has desire and hatred, etc. Moreover, mere words are the result of the intention to express, and that may arise from causes such as desire. Even without desire, it may arise from causes of motivation such as compassion. Therefore, one cannot infer with certainty that one has desire from the general result of the intention to express, which is merely words. If one thinks that if one is without desire, one will not have any intention, so it is impossible to speak, then even without the intention of desire, one cannot preclude teaching the Dharma to others, etc. If one says that one has not seen a detached person speak, then merely because one has not directly seen a detached person speak, one cannot preclude that a detached person does not speak. Therefore, even if that sign exists on the dissimilar side, one may not have seen it oneself, so one cannot consider it a reason merely because one has not seen it.
