It will not become possessed of (universals), because there is no connection. Therefore, what is the use of diligently examining whether something that does not have universals exists? There is no need for it. The reason for this is that the self-nature of fire is the object, that is, the mind is the object, and the person who wants to achieve the results of cooking and burning will tend to that object. Like that, in order to pursue the purpose, is the necessary support the separate self-nature? Or is it just the universal that is not different? It should be examined. If you examine it like that, the result of manifesting desire from which it arises, the ability to perform the function of heat and burning, is the self-nature of fire, the separate self-nature, not the universal. For those self-natures of fire, returning from non-fire, only these same contradictions are established in the mind in all the self-natures of fire. Apart from these, on things, a dharma of one's own nature cannot exist on other things, so for things of self-nature, there is not even a dust of mutual following, common dharma. If it exists, because the dharma of other things exists on other things, the person seeking fire will tend to water, the person wanting cloth will tend to the vase, and with the sound of "etc.", simultaneous arising and destruction, etc., will fall into many faults. Second, showing that reason can eliminate other inverted reasons. With the reason that shows that all things are separate, it is possible to refute those naked heretics who walk without clothes, without shame or without scruples, who use the inverted words transformed by the inner darkness of ignorance, saying that all dharmas are both this and not this, and that either one is possible. For example, 'The gong is the same in nature, so sometimes it changes, but because the state is different, it does not change,' etc., like this, for those who have no fixed standard for taking and abandoning, and who speak randomly. It is possible for the self-nature of things to abide in the unique state of not being other than one's own nature. Occasionally, the situation of being no different from others does not exist in any case. Also, like you, if you think that all things are one nature, then all things are the nature of both this and not this.

If it is said that because you do not have the ability to distinguish between me and non-me, or in order to eliminate this ability, you are advised, naked heretic, to drink yogurt, then why are you not advised to drink cow's colostrum? However, yogurt has some excellent or superior qualities that cow's colostrum does not have, such as being transformed into the state of milk and being drinkable. By virtue of these qualities, the specificity of yogurt is established. If it is said that the specificity of yogurt lies solely in its difference from cow's colostrum, then it is precisely because yogurt has excellent qualities that cow's colostrum does not have that the two are not the same, but are different from each other. If all things have the nature of other things, then for those things, the wisdom that recognizes them and the sound that expresses them would not be different. If it is said that all different states are encompassed without difference by one nature, then according to this view, since the difference between sound and wisdom does not arise, therefore, the establishment of terms such as considering the different as the same is impossible. Second, explaining the elimination of doubts about the sound and concept of non-existence: Some others say that even if the sound and concept with existence as their object can understand and recognize the nature of existence by the power of excluding other things, does the sound and concept that expresses non-existence, such as "non-pot," express and recognize the nature of non-existence itself? If it does, then non-existence has a nature; if it does not, then the sound and concept will not become its object either, just as the sound and concept of a pillar is not the object of a pot. If it is said in this way, because non-existence does not have even the slightest nature in conventional terms, is it necessary to examine whether it expresses its nature or not? Even if it is not necessary to examine, then on what basis is the sound that expresses it used? The conclusion is that it merely expresses the complete negation of what is to be refuted. Therefore, what is expressed by the sound, or what is cut off from what is to be refuted, is merely the conceptualization of it. In what place and time, what dharma does not exist, this is established only by the power of cutting off what is to be refuted in what place, and there is nothing that can independently exist as "non-existence." Third, regarding the classification of the nature sign: It is divided into existence and the elimination of debates about it. First, the nature sign also has two classifications of establishment: one is to introduce one's own special nature into consciousness as an object of observation, or, another is to observe.
