If so, the answer to the second question is: a common single thing is not suitable as the cause of the effect. Clear distinctions should be established as the cause of the effect. Firstly, if multiple causes become one through the nature of the principal, then, since all the abilities of other causes are also present in a single principal nature like a seed, it will only produce, and other co-acting factors such as land and water will become meaningless. Therefore, it can be determined that in the single nature of the principal, there is no essence that is different from itself, so it will not follow other conditions, and it is necessarily separated from multiple differences, because it is a partless part. Therefore, it is impossible to know that there are other differences between things other than the nature that exists in one thing, and if there are, then the single nature of the principal will no longer be a single nature, but will become a different nature. Therefore, the idea that one cause does not produce because it lacks co-acting factors is also shown to be meaningless. It cannot be thought of in this way, because the obvious harm is this: for the production of the effect, even if any one of its own causes is missing, there will be no effect, so it can be determined that it is not produced solely from one principal. The differences or distinctions of seeds and land, water, etc., are the causes of those effects. Therefore, the ability to realize the meaning of producing its own effect is, in name, the object of the entry and exit of the purusha, and exists in the ultimate sense. The self-characterized things that exist in the ultimate sense are also things that do not follow each other and exist differently in their own nature. Those that appear to follow each other, such as universals, etc., are only established on the level of imputation, and do not actually exist, so no effect will ever arise from them. Secondly, establishing clear distinctions as the cause of the effect: even without universals, cause and non-cause are reasonable. Even if different, many can produce one. Even if different, one cannot produce all. Firstly, as just said, the nature or essence of barley seeds and rice seeds is different. Some of them, such as barley seeds, are the cause of barley sprouts, while others, rice seeds, are not.

It is not the cause. The self-nature or dharma-nature of things is the reason for action. Therefore, it is impossible to transcend and examine the nature of things as they are, just like saying that fire is hot, why is water not hot but remains in the nature of wetness. If these are not separated from the nature of one principal, then all the collections of causes have no difference, and the nature of the result is also the same, so when trees grow, calves should also grow, etc., everything should grow simultaneously. When one thing is destroyed, all other things that are identical to it in nature should also be destroyed. If it is said that everything is one in the nature of the principal, but different in terms of transformation, so there is production and destruction, while the other things are different in terms of transformation, so they do not produce and destroy simultaneously. If any manifestation is destroyed, and the generality or principal that has become its self-nature or entity does not perish but remains, then it is not the self-nature of that difference or transformation, because one perishes and one does not perish, so the common basis of these two contradictions cannot exist. Because it is not that, therefore, for them, the arising of the concept of generality and particularity, that is, the arising of cognition, is also impossible, because there is no common basis. Then, it is the same for you who speak of the opposite, when a tree is destroyed, will the opposite of the tree not be destroyed? Because the opposite, which is merely separated from non-trees, does not have its own entity as a substance, so when the opposite-possessor is destroyed, it is meaningless to think and examine whether the opposite exists or does not exist. When a tree grows, it is also separated from non-trees, but when a tree is destroyed, because the entity of the tree that has been separated from non-trees is destroyed, the opposite of other trees will not disappear either. The opposite of that tree will not remain alone either, because the opposite itself has no entity, so it does not have production and cessation by its own entity. Therefore, the destruction of one tree does not cause the generality of trees to disappear. Because generality is only applied to the opposite that is separated from non-trees, so the concept of generality is also just an illusion established by conceptual thought, therefore, the examination of whether there is destruction or not on things will refute it.
