For any belief, there will be no incompatible faults, because for the non-thing that excludes others, there is no examination of one and other. The above explained how there is no fault in speaking of exclusion. Now, secondly, for those who think that the object of sound is different from exclusion, because there is no reason to establish it, it is shown that the necessary things can be established only through exclusion. Manifestation alone, general alone, and general possession are not needed. First, the Lokayatas and others say that although all opposites exist, there is no independent thing, and they do not admit other general meanings, then the reason for applying one sound to many things is unreasonable. If so, for each different manifestation, a different name must be applied, which is too much. If a name is applied to exclusion, it is not unnecessary and without reason, because in order to express or fully show the common result of the manifestation of a cow, such as milking and carrying, like a mottled cow and a black cow, although they are different, they can produce the same results such as milking and carrying. The old people who know the name use the sound "cow" as the name to represent the opposite of the cow that does not have the results of milking and carrying, that is, the exclusion of others, which is reasonable. Only through it can the meaning of the name be established, so there is no need for other name objects. Second, different manifestations do not need name objects, the only general thing is not needed, and having general dharma does not need sound objects. First, it is difficult to express each different manifestation with sound, because the place and time of manifestation are infinite, and it is impossible to apply names, because the nature of self-character is not manifest to the conceptualization that performs name association, and applying names to each manifestation does not have the necessary result of understanding and application at the time of expression. It is not to apply names to the self-character of things, if so, all things reside in their own unique nature without being mixed with others, therefore the nature of a mottled cow is not possessed by a yellow cow, so it is impossible to express both with one sound of "cow", therefore, in order to apply it to things that produce the effects of milking and carrying, it is unnecessary to apply the name "cow". Therefore, it is not to apply names to manifestations, but to exclude from things that do not have the results of milking and carrying

For example, (cows) have both mottled and yellow colors. This indicates that all cows have (these characteristics), so by convention, the single word "cow" can represent all similar things. Therefore, the object referred to by the word "cow," even if there is no difference in terms of needs such as milking, there is no need to add different sound characteristics separately, so it is unreasonable to add them that way. Because of such reasons, even if one wants to express the result or need of a cow, such as milking, it is only because it is distinguished by excluding other things that do not have the result, and by convention, therefore, one word can be universally understood to cover all its kinds. Even if there is no common universality, it is only indicated by convention that it is different from other things by some attribute. For example, the forms, appearances, and mental activities of the eyes, etc., are the factors that produce the fruit of a single visual consciousness, because they are its cause. These causes are no different in producing the single fruit of visual consciousness, or that fruit. It is possible to represent and indicate with the single word "cause of visual consciousness," and it is not impossible. The necessity of doing so is that even if there are some causes, that is, many causes, there is no need to explain them one by one, but to indicate them simultaneously with one word, so that it is possible to understand all the collections of causes with minimal effort. Even if there is no common universality that is different from the essence of the eye, etc., it can be commonly referred to as the cause of visual consciousness or visual cognition with one word, so in the conventions circulating in the world, what exists or happens in this way should also be called that way, because the necessity of sound is only to understand the meaning. Even if the causes are not explained one by one, it can be understood through the convention of simplifying terms, so if there is no universal entity, it is not permissible to call it that way. Or, arising from convention means that terms for understanding meaning arise from different ways of combining conventions. In the translation of the self-commentary: Its essence is universal.
