The establishment of existence or non-existence depends on the mind, and there is no other way to establish it. In the nature of the object itself, where is the basis of negation, and there, not appearing itself, there is nothing called non-existence other than that. Therefore, where the object that can be seen is not observed, from the existing object, the word and knowledge of non-existence with reason of the observed object are established. Even if that is the reason for the name, the reason is not necessarily established as the result, because when the reason exists, it does not depend on others, and it abides in the nature of the name that applies. If the object that can appear is not seen, just because of that, the name of non-existence is generally known and established among the cowherd women, so the name of non-existence is the result of the unobserved object, but from the reason, the thought and word of non-existence are established without doubt. Because it does not depend on anything other than the reason, what is uncertain? Nothing. Second, showing the object and its example. First, if so, there is no need to establish this sign, because it does not do anything to make the ignorant understand. It is like saying: the vase exists, because it is observed. If you think so, it is not right, even if the object to which the name of non-existence applies, which can appear but is not observed, is established by direct perception and exists, but because of relying on bad treatises and so on, and being confused about such reasons, therefore, for this matter, other Samkhyas and so on, for those who do not say the name that corresponds to the object of the name, if the vase and so on are not observed, it is shown that the establishment of the name of non-existence is the same Dharma. It is only to evoke the memory of applying the name of non-existence to the object that is considered to exist with the intention of confusion, this is only the correct reason for establishing the name. For example, for the Samkhyas who consider both the cause and effect of something like a sprout to be able to appear, but do not see the effect on the cause, and do not consider it to be non-existent, in this direction, the Dharma, the vase does not exist, because it can appear but is not observed. This establishment is to make them remember the name or term that there is no effect on the cause. Second, like this, just for the sake of showing examples to others, not only that, but one's own nature is not a flawed reasoning, because it is possible to establish such a flawless name, why?

Whatever exists, follows what is seen; whatever does not exist, contradicts what is not seen. Like this, from clearly seeing following and contradicting, one determines "this is the cause" and "this is precisely the result." Such reasoning exists in the world. For these two things that possess the nature of following and contradicting, the term "result" is applied, and the term "cause" is applied using the word "etcetera." This is precisely to establish such names for them, that seeing following and contradicting is stated as the reason. The meaning of following and contradicting is already established, and there is no need to prove it now. However, through this way of following and contradicting, applying the term "cause and effect" to both the "result" and the "cause" as the object of dependence, one can easily understand the meaning of following and contradicting, and there is no need to say many meanings. Through concise terminology, one can understand and grasp what needs to be understood. Third, the meaning of not separately showing that example is: If the non-perception of nature is to establish the result from the cause, and if that is an unmistaken sign, then there would be a fourth reason, "the cause establishes the result," is that so? No, because the non-perception of the establishing cause, from its own nature, can establish that the result itself has no name, without relying on other consciousnesses. Therefore, this is included within the nature reason. So when explaining the classification of reasons, only the three, result, nature, and non-perception, are shown, and this is not shown separately as an example of establishing the result from the cause, because it belongs to the category of nature. Just as it was said before that the collection produces the result, it is entirely the power of the thing itself, so it is explained as the sign of nature. Here, the non-perception of the perceptible itself is the nature that abides in the realm of the name of non-existence. Moreover, just like the real cause in the final stage of the collection of causes, its power is unimpeded, it does not depend on others. Merely being non-perceived, it becomes the nature of being able to apply the name of non-existence. If one thinks that the real cause necessarily produces the real result, and non-perception necessarily applies a name, like the Samkhya school, then the real cause is a real thing, and non-perception is non-real, not the cause of production, but the establishment.
