Therefore, it is not possible to generally refer to it as "this and the fruit of this." Second, regarding the meaning of establishment: the way one's own wishes are established; the meaning of refuting others' intentions. First, just as the substances of water are different, but the liquid is of the same kind, although the differences of fire are different, from the perspective of not being fire, what is it that allows us to understand all these things as being of the same kind of fire? It is by virtue of the thing that has the nature of heat and burning, which serves as the basis for understanding, that it produces its own result—smoke, therefore, because it becomes a cause-and-effect relationship in this way, fire is understood through smoke. The thing that is understood as fire in this way, because the accompanying factor of the smoke arising or other firewood that becomes a branch also exists, it depends on it, and smoke arises, therefore, the result—smoke, is unerring with respect to the cause—fire, because without a cause, the result cannot arise. Just as smoke is not confused with fire, all other fruits are similarly established as not being confused, because all fruits have no difference. Second, because the basis on which the branch of producing smoke and producing changes in firewood depends is nominally established as fire. If Indra's head is not that kind of fire, then the blue and swollen thing that arises from it is not smoke, because there is no cause. If that is real smoke, then fire is also Indra's head, because the cause of smoke is established as fire. Second, the connection of one entity is: how to know that if the pervasive nature of the phenomenon that arises, which depends on its own cause, the dependent, or the basis, does not exist, then the phenomenon—the pervaded—will not arise? For example, the nature of impermanence or destruction, and the nature of having action, are actually a connection of one entity, and from the difference of the opposite, the way of becoming a reason and a proposition, as said in the first chapter and so on above. Such a connection of one entity is also shown by meaning to not exist in the self and life, because this is the time to analyze that connection. Third, the way to represent other similar types in that way is: in order to show that all reasons that are considered to be one-sided opposites are equally not reasons.

In order to prove that sound is permanent, audibility itself is given as an example. However, anyone can understand that it is not a reason. In this way, all that are considered to be one-sided refutations should be regarded as the same as audibility, not as reasons. Therefore, it is exemplified in this way. Third, the reason for not showing different examples of negative signs is that the three of cause, pervasion, and nature are represented by meaning, and the remainder is the same as this. First, it is established through meaning from each example, and everything comes down to just non-apprehension. First, the way in which the examples of cause and pervasion non-apprehension are established, nature non-apprehension is also established. First, eliminate the perception of real and false. First, in the case of dividing the dharma into nine categories, if the examples of result and nature are shown separately, then the example of non-apprehension should also be shown, but it is unreasonable not to mention it. This is because the meaning of these two examples has been established. If the refutation of the two reasons of result and nature is shown, then the meaning of result and pervasion can be understood through the refutation of cause and nature. Therefore, the examples of cause and pervasion non-apprehension are not explained separately. Furthermore, this dharma briefly shows the key points of the signs, so that the wise can understand the meaning from it. Furthermore, if the cause disappears, the result must disappear; if the pervasion disappears, the pervaded object must disappear. This proves the two non-apprehensions, because it is only expressing the meaning with a negative sign, and there is nothing else. Second, there is no need for observable characteristics, and the perception of confusion of the three signs is eliminated. First, even if these two non-apprehensions are understood through meaning, if non-apprehension is not divided into observable and unobservable, it is impossible to distinguish whether the object is negated or not. Because there is no such certainty, how can it be understood that this has observable characteristics? Cause and pervasion non-apprehension also need to be distinguished by observability. For example, the logician, in order to prove that the living body has a self, posits life as the reason. The answer to this is: because the nature of the self or person is invisible, the sign of life, etc., must be determined to return from the dissimilar side.
