Just because of these reasons, my entity, that is, the entity of the basis of designation of the so-called "I," is merely these six internal sense sources. Apart from this, to designate this impermanent aggregate as "I," there is actually no independent "I" at all. Therefore, this object of designation called "I" is thus dependent on its own causes and conditions, existing when they exist, and ceasing when they cease. If, apart from this, one considers breath and mind, etc., as the cause of "I," then there would be no connection with these causes. Even if the presence and absence are not measured by valid cognition, it is still reasonable to acknowledge them as causes. Second, regarding the similarity between life and audibility: The fundamental reason is the statement, and a detailed explanation of this reason is given. First, because pervasiveness is not established, therefore, because of mistakenly establishing one's own thesis, when establishing that sound is permanent, stating audibility as the reason, and when establishing that a living body possesses "I," stating life, etc., as the reason, these two are the same. Second, refuting by examining the reverse reason, refuting by relying on the aspect of the basis of dependence, refuting by examining the connection between the two. First, establishing similarity without reverse pervasiveness, refuting the statement in response to this. First, the thing itself and its rationality. First, the opponent says: These two are not the same, although audibility and life, etc., as reasons, have the nature of being contrary to the dissimilar class, audibility is because it is confused in establishing that, even if it is stated conversely as impermanent, it is not a correct reason. If asked: How is it confused? They would say: Audibility is not contrary to the dissimilar class itself or only the dissimilar class of the thesis, but also contrary to the similar class. If so, in reality, audibility does not follow the dharma of the thesis, therefore it will be said that this is confused, even if it is only contrary to the dissimilar class, it cannot be established without causing confusion, because it is not helpful to the thesis. If this is the case, then the absence of concomitance is the same for other life, etc. Second, its rationality is: Saying that the reason is completely different from not being the thesis itself, this is actually saying that it abides in its own thesis, because it does not exist only in the dissimilar class.

Merely grasping the opposite to show existence in the concordant side, if saying that one of the two opposites does not exist, but cannot show existence in the other, then it is meaningless to specifically designate one of these two, and for that very reason, it can be understood through the meaning of that statement that either one can indicate both, that is, whether saying that it exists only in the concordant side, or that it does not exist only in the discordant side, either one can express both. Therefore, since there is no valid establishment of reversal from the absence of concomitance, this kind of sign that is considered to be a single reversal does not establish without confusing with the probandum. If life, etc., are only reversed from the discordant side, and there is no reversal from the concordant side, then it will become existent in the concordant side. The so-called sign reversal means that the sign is absent or prohibited on that basis. And saying that there is no reversal, which is to prevent prevention, then what else is it other than establishing existence? It is nothing. Just as saying "Devadatta does not exist is not," or saying "These cattle do not have horns is not," two negations actually indicate affirmation. Second, refuting that answer. The previous statement and its answer. First, establishing life, etc., as a sign, this is a single reversal that only reverses from the discordant side. What is the reason? Because according to your Buddhist view, you do not admit the existence of self at all, so there is no example that agrees with the probandum. If the living body is taken as one side, then there is no concordant side other than that. Whatever does not exist cannot be the basis for establishing negation, because the unreal does not have even a little bit of self-nature, so it is not reasonable to rely on any dharma, and it cannot be a source, so it cannot be the basis of reversal. Therefore, saying that it reverses from the concordant side, adding the word of source is also unreasonable, so from the probandum, the sign life, etc., has no reversal. If there is no reversal from the concordant side, then this sign is absent from the non-probandum itself, that is, will it become a single reversal reason that only does not exist in the discordant side? Second, refuting it. Preventing by admitting falling into contradiction. Negating by falling into saying nothing. Negating by falling into complete absence of negation. First, you yourself admit that there is no reversal from the probandum, then
