Therefore, one will attain the state of being free from (samsara). To be born in that pure land, it is not necessary to have completed the gradual practice of the root of faith and conduct beforehand. Because of the power of the Tathagata's aspiration, one will see the appearance of the Buddha at the time of death. Even those who have doubts will only be in a lotus bud for five hundred years, obscured from seeing the Buddha. This statement dispels the doubt that one can only be born after attaining the noble path. Furthermore, because it specifically mentions "except for those who abandon the Dharma and commit the five heinous crimes," it is known that the Buddha's power is inconceivable. Just as mantra practitioners can attain results in a short time, the stage of faith and conduct can also be completed in a short time. This is proven by the scriptures themselves, so one should not use reasoning to deny its possibility. Moreover, relying solely on the scriptures, one cannot prove damage to the object to be proven, or damage to other things that would not arise without it. For example, understand how to prove the object to be proven through the scriptures. Similarly, for examples such as the scriptures showing that great happiness and results can be achieved with small offerings to the Buddha, the scriptures cannot prove their harm, so they are established. For example, the scriptures prove that "this worshiper will surely become many Chakravartin kings," but the scriptures say that this will happen if the roots of virtue are not destroyed by unfavorable factors. Therefore, in cases like this where it cannot be absolutely certain, when analyzing based on the scriptures, if one carefully distinguishes the damage caused by the promises of the scriptures, etc., even if one measures the third situation with the scriptures, whether the scriptures harm the meaning of the scriptures depends on the power of things, so only those with extremely sharp intelligence can understand it. Second, if it is not like that, then it is too extreme. All analysis requires scriptures, and in particular, scriptures are needed to discuss the things to be proven and faults. First, when analyzing extremely obscure things, it is necessary to rely on the scriptures, but not all situations require reliance on the scriptures. If it is not like that, the view that all analysis must be based on treatises has no reason. If it is really necessary, then it becomes non-sectarian, that is, it loses the name of a sect.

Even cowherd women and others who do not know anything at all will not realize that there is fire when they see smoke. This is because they have admitted that in all speculations, speculation is not allowed without treatises. Even so, the fact that smoke can make one realize fire is refuted by the undeniable external perception. Therefore, there is no inherent connection between scripture and individuals, so beings are solitary, that is, they arise alone without being connected to scripture. Although this is the case, there is no connection with scripture at the time of arising, but later the reason for holding scripture is that the excellent qualities of knowing the scripture and the faults of not knowing the scripture are not seen by valid cognition. In this way, although there is no reason why scripture cannot be abandoned, they cling to their own scripture, thinking that it is the scripture of their own side, and like this, they have no freedom to abandon it. The perverse and evil tenets, like an unbearable demon, disturb the mind stream and are difficult to abandon. Alas! Who has assigned this to your mind stream? This has become an unbearable karmic punishment for you! Second, even if ordinary speculation does not require holding scripture, when the scholars of various schools affirm what is to be established, if they can show that all the qualities of what is to be established, as stated in the treatise itself, become the mark of establishment, and that this single mark can show that there is no contradiction, then it becomes a correct proof. Otherwise, what is the use of refuting everything without regard to one's own school? Will it become a fallacious proof? If you ask this, then, for what is correctly established by the power of reality, there is no need to examine whether it contradicts scripture or not. Even if it is established by the power of reality, if it is said to contradict it, then that scripture is not a correct scripture. Therefore, when reasoning is emphasized in speculation, it is necessary to examine and show the relationship between the sign (cause) and what it establishes (effect), that without it, it will not arise. If, in order to cater to people's desire for knowledge, a quality is placed in what is to be established, because its differences cannot be measured, it is necessary to show that it does not contradict all the meanings of scripture, and to give examples like this. Even if only one thing to be established is established by a sign, it is difficult to find the ultimate measure. Such a proof is a law that transcends the world, that is, it does not exist in the world.
