Therefore, all one's own thoughts will also disappear without being experienced. Ultimately, not experiencing is because of experiencing the object. If one cannot experience the mind while experiencing the object, then for a person whose appearance of experiencing the object is uninterrupted, all the thoughts that arise in his own mind will disappear without being experienced. For a madman whose mind is unstable, if you ask what he did when he didn't clearly arise, just like having nothing to say, afterwards he won't remember that I saw this, I heard that, so it's very ridiculous. Secondly, if one thinks that even without self-awareness, because it is one's own mind-stream, my experience is my own direct perception, while what others experience is not my own direct perception. Then, with what reason does one say the difference between direct and non-direct perception? Even if one only knows how to state a proposition, if one does not admit self-awareness, can it be established that it is direct perception for oneself or what one has experienced, just because it is one's own mind-stream? Just like one's own eyes cannot see oneself, don't you also admit that you don't know yourself? Can something that has not been experienced be recalled in this way with certainty? Think about it. Someone says: The eyes cannot see themselves, but one can know whether one's own eyes are clear or not. Similarly, even without self-awareness and self-illumination, one can understand one's own consciousness through the way of other-awareness and clarity. If one thinks like this, the eye faculty is the cause of the clarity of consciousness. Therefore, even if it is not established as the nature of self-awareness and clarity, it can still obtain the name of clarity by relying on the result, consciousness, but not by thinking of clarity. It is not that one recognizes that this is the nature of clarity through the way of objects, such as blue, etc., being clear, without relying on consciousness. If the clarity of consciousness does not arise, then how can there be clarity for the nature of inanimate objects like the eyes? Just like the way a lamp illuminates a vase, and the way a mind illuminates consciousness, neither of these is possible for the eyes. If any dharma does not establish its own nature as clear, but can make other things clear simply because it exists, then there will be nothing unclear in this world, and everything will become clear. Because everything will become the illuminator of everything else, even if it is not clear itself.

also because you promised to make it clear to others. Therefore, the thought that "my eyes are bright" is because the knowledge arising from it is bright, which is due to the power of self-awareness through experience. Otherwise, like the eyes of others, who can know whether it is bright or not? The knowledge arising from it is bright, but if it is not experienced by self-awareness, it will not be known to be bright. If it is not known, it is also impossible to know the difference of the cause—the root, because the root itself is hidden. Therefore, know that all the words of experience are the experience of self-illuminating wisdom, which arises only from self-awareness. In the verses of the Compendium on Valid Cognition, the chapter explaining the chapter on Direct Perception, which is the third (chapter). Thus, after correctly determining the state of affairs of terms, the reasoning of self-benefit inference and that with direct perception have already proceeded well. Now, in order to show others how one understands the meaning through inference, therefore, the explanation of other-benefit inference is to be given. Among them, the characteristics of the general statement of proof are shown. How to establish the method is explained separately. First, the meaning of mentioning what one has seen is explained. The necessity of calling it "meaning" is explained. The meaning of being extremely clear is explained. First, the necessity of dispelling wrong conceptions is explained. Its reasoning is well established. First, by speaking the language with the power of true reasoning, establishing the correct meaning and refuting the wrong evil path, thereby eliminating the confusion of others and generating the correct appearance, as it is said in the Ornament for the Mahayana Sutras: Those who have good Dharma and think with reason and discernment, are always not obstructed by demons. In particular, obtaining and refuting others is the characteristic of being not taken away and fully matured. Thus, in accordance with what is said, the explanation begins from the method of establishing and refuting. What is the general method of establishing a statement? The treatise on Valid Cognition says: Other-benefit inference is, the meaning of what one has seen is extremely clear. Thus, in order to explain the meaning of the words that eliminate the three faults of wisdom, meaning, and language in order. In general, in this case of other-benefit inference, the meaning of what one has seen is extremely clear, and in fact, inference is the result.
