Because consciousness does not have differences such as coarse and fine, and it always arises only in the final moment, other differences of coarse and fine are unreasonable. If the previous thought and the intermediate are not interrupted by others and always arise, then because it is always the same, there is no difference of near and far, so there is no reason to become non-apprehended. Third, summarizing the meaning. As mentioned above, if the previous thought is apprehended by the subsequent thought, then only the immediately preceding causal mind will always be apprehended, therefore it will never understand other meanings. Second, establishing the established meaning. Others think that it is unreasonable that the ability to apprehend and the ability to proximately take do not differ in the apprehended meaning, because things do not have other different abilities. This idea is wrong. According to our view, although it is not established that multiple or one different entity of energy arises from an energetic thing, causal things, through their own nature or dharma nature, multiple causes produce one effect, or one cause produces multiple effects, which has been said before, this is the power of dependent origination. If one thing does not have multiple different energies, then one cause will not produce multiple different effects. It is not so, some proximately taken things, such as previous and subsequent moments, seem to be one cause producing one effect. Considering this, we say that one cause produces one effect. All effects arise from the collection of their own causes and conditions, because it is not seen that one effect arises from an indivisible cause, so we say that multiple causes produce one effect. One cause also, relative to each effect, becomes a collection of proximately taken and co-acting conditions, therefore it is helpful for each difference of effect, from this perspective, one cause produces multiple effects. Saying one and many like this, although one or multiple energies are not established, through the collection of causes and conditions, the thing itself produces such an effect, that's all.

Therefore, it is not the case that each different function arises separately from things. Second, refuting the view of simultaneously holding things and consciousness: If the later consciousness that cuts off the former consciousness, then another consciousness will simultaneously hold both the external thing and the former consciousness, so there is no fault of not experiencing both consciousness and thing, is it? Because the same thing appears twice before and after, the mind gradually arises on the object, and through the word "etc.", it can be seen that the consciousness of the senses aims at the same object, and it is not always simultaneous but gradually arises. Even expressions like "A I" will become simultaneous rather than gradually appearing. The former single letter like "A" will also appear twice in the mind, because "A" appears when the previous self-awareness consciousness appears, and in the later consciousness that aims at "A", "A" appears again. The previous consciousness cannot be separated from the difference of the object and held, and when the previous object is clearly experienced, the object will also be clear as it is cognized, and there will be no clear or unclear or near or far between the two. Therefore, when the consciousness of discrimination gradually focuses on the letters, each letter will also appear twice before and after. The consciousness that experiences the previous eye consciousness will also hold the sound of its own moment, so the previous form and the present sound will also appear simultaneously. The above is established on the basis of firmly believing that there are other consciousnesses that can completely experience one's own continuum of consciousness without being cut off. Now, second, refuting the view of not experiencing the last consciousness, including refuting the substance and avoiding the fault. First, as said, by analyzing in this way, if one's own consciousness is held by other consciousnesses, then it will be found difficult to avoid the fault of not being able to continuously experience both things and consciousness. If the previous consciousness is experienced sequentially, then when the last consciousness of the continuum transfers to another object, the last moment of experiencing the previous consciousness is not experienced by other consciousnesses, but transfers to the object. If one continuously experiences one's own consciousness, then it is impossible to experience the object at all, is that what is being said? If so, then the last consciousness is like a vase in an empty house, even if it exists, it is not known, and it will become that one has not experienced it at all. Moreover, just like other experiences.
