Then how should the sound be used? If it is considered unnecessary and ineffective, no one will use it. If it is said that the necessity has just been explained, and the sound is used for that reason, if for the object of this specially designated name, there is a function of distinguishing other things that are not it, then isn't the necessity of all sounds just to exclude what is not wanted and enter into what is wanted? Since this is the case, what is the use of the sound's object to you? Because it will become neither necessary nor effective. Second, refuting the unreasonable answer of showing that there is no universal necessity. Even without other universals, the way to recognize reasonably. Refuting that recognition arises from the universal. First, those who believe that the universal is real say, if there is no mutually following universal, then for the self-characterized different things, such as the medicine Arura, once seen before, how can it be recognized again when it is seen later without being informed by others? That is not because the self-character has a universal reality, even if the clear things such as bottles are different without universality, but the consciousness that produces self-grasping, and the actions such as fetching water, once seen the things that appear in the bottle that do that and that action, and later see other things that are the same as the previous body and result, etc., the former and latter of the seen object both do things such as fetching water, not leaving other things that do not do other things, or the words that have the object of excluding other things, that is, the inner speech or discrimination, combine or mix the former and latter together, saying that this is the previous one, or saying that this is the previous one, fabricating it as the same kind and recognizing it, just like that. Recognizing with the discrimination that holds the similarities as one, not because there is a universal in the object, the previously known, seeing it there again and recognizing it. If you know it through the universal before, you can recognize it now, then you will think that the universal known before is also in this seen now, and you will not mistakenly think that this is the previous one. Second, divide into two parts. Stating the harm and refuting that answer. First, according to the view of those who believe that recognition comes from the existence of other universals, the wisdom of recognition is only universal, appearing

It is not reasonable to arise from non-existence itself, because the reason is that whenever any object is seen, if only the pure universal that is not mixed with clarity is cognized, then, since only the universal has ever been seen, and clarity has never been seen at all, it would lead to the inability to recognize. If clarity cannot be recognized, then at no time can the relationship of the universal and clarity being combined be grasped, because for something that has never been seen, it cannot be established as being combined with another, just as a person who sees a vase but does not see a meat-eater does not think that the vase and the meat-eater are combined. Therefore, it can never be certain that the universal and clarity are combined. Then, how can one say, "This is the universal of this object, this is the difference combined with that universal, because it is combined with the universal, therefore this clarity is recognized"? Because there is no reason to apply the name. Second, refuting the answer that eliminates that fault: If it is said that the clarity that is assisted by one object of the universal is also the cause of recognition, and not just the pure universal, then, what benefit does the universal confer on the recognition of clarity? If recognition is grasping by mixing the previous one with this one, then, does the single object of the universal eliminate the difference of those clarities, or does it not? It is impossible that the difference has not been eliminated, because it contradicts direct perception. If there is no difference, then what is following the many? If it is said that even without eliminating the difference, the wisdom of recognizing the difference arises by the power of being combined with the universal, then, why do you not want those clarities to be the cause of the cognition of a single universal, since the clarities are different? In this way, your view is that if a common universal does not exist in reality, then a common verbal cognition cannot exist, because the clarities are different, therefore it should not produce a common verbal cognition, is that not what you vowed? In this way, after proving that only different qualities do not produce a single verbal cognition, here, if it is combined with a universal, then even different qualities can produce a single wisdom of the result of recognition, which shows that the admission is contradictory.
