If it is said that when the eyes see permanent things that have slightly no change, they appear clearly. Then, although it is not possible to determine the previous and subsequent changes by direct perception, it appears clearly because the essence is the point of being momentary. If it is not like this, then whatever appears as stable, such as diamond, stone, rock mountain, etc., if it is also permanent, because it does not depend on other conditions, if it generates self-grasping consciousness, then all the consciousness of all beings that arise from it, whatever arises, is without before and after, and at the same time, the permanent condition of the object is generated by itself alone. If it can generate consciousness, and the permanent generates the result, then it is impossible to generate gradually. Second, even if it generates self-grasping consciousness by making it the object-condition, all the object-possessors will not arise simultaneously. Because other conditions that exist simultaneously with that object-condition, such as the senses and attention, help in different ways, thereby generating self-grasping consciousness, so the fruit or object-possessing consciousness of this permanent thing such as diamond arises gradually. If it is said that at the time when the former is not generated, the object-condition that exists simultaneously with it is again made the cause of generating other things, then it should also be known and said that the object-condition that is considered permanent is also a new other thing after the previous one has ceased in each moment before and after. It is not permissible to hold that one thing without difference before and after appears gradually again and again. Moreover, considering the permanent as the object-condition, there is also the fault of not being able to grasp with consciousness at the same time, just as it was said before. Second, from the sign of memory, two ways are established. Refuting the views of others, establishing one's own system. Further establishing its rationality. First, the Sutra of Valid Cognition says: Later, it also arises from memory. Therefore, at the time of experiencing the object, not only does it appear as two, but also in the subsequent memory, it is also established as having two ways, so it can be established. On this, some commentators of the Compendium say: The so-called two ways, it is unreasonable to say that the two ways are established merely because consciousness is the knower and the object is the known. Just like the heat of fire, consciousness experiences or knows the object by its own nature or self, just like that.

Since it is established through the cowherd, both internally and externally, there is no dispute about such two ways. Just as proving that "fire is hot," what is the use of proving it in a treatise? However, the knowledge that grasps objects, apart from the object itself, has two aspects: the apprehended aspect and the apprehending aspect, which possess the nature of a blue object. This is not established in the eyes of ordinary people, and they want to grasp the object nakedly. The fact that the object-possessing knowledge itself has two aspects can also be established through correct recollection, just as it was experienced before. Any object, all correct recollections that correspond to that object, will not recall what is not on that object, just like cloth on a pillar. What exists is recalled, like the dewlap and wattle on a cow. Secondly, if one thinks that when recalling blue, recalling blue is recalling the object, and not because the knowledge has the aspect of blue, that is not correct. Just as it is impossible to recall a cow without dewlap and wattle, because knowledge itself is the object with the aspect of the object, one cannot abandon one's own dharma and understand other things. If the object of knowledge itself, such as blue and yellow, is not distinguished by other things, and apart from its own clarity and awareness, it does not grasp other different characteristics to experience differences, then any knowledge will not say "this is like this," or "this is not like this," and the distinction of knowledge will disappear. For example, if asked what object is experienced, and the answer is only that the knowable is experienced, and not the different aspects of a vase, etc., then for all experienced things, it is impossible to understand the difference between "experiencing a vase and not experiencing cloth," etc. If one thinks that in one's own continuum, the moments of the aggregation of object, sense faculty, and consciousness arise sequentially, and they are distinguished because of the difference in nature, that is also unreasonable. Even if it is admitted that each moment is different, if different aspects are not experienced, merely experiencing that multiple minds arise sequentially in one's own continuum cannot distinguish "experiencing this and that," and thus distinguish them. For example, in a certain object, some parts appear or manifest in different ways.
