It is so, everything appears in this way. Therefore, no matter what is cognized, it cannot go beyond the self-nature of the knowledge itself experiencing it. These knowledges being able to experience their own self-nature is the natural law of things, so there is no need to examine other reasons. Like this, the self-nature of being able to be experienced, which is established by valid cognition, is the wisdom that measures the object, therefore it is valid cognition. The self-nature of that knowledge is also the object to be measured, although it appears as two, but in reality it is only the experience of the clear part of the wisdom, from this point of view, self-awareness is also the result. These are established as such in the name of non-deceptive appearance, therefore they exist as such. Second, the teacher Dignāga explains happiness and so on as valid cognition of self-awareness. Here, is it not contradictory to explain the grasping aspect as the way to establish self-awareness? Those two have the same meaning, the aspect of grasping the self-nature of the knowledge to be measured, in which the self-nature of completely determining the knowledge, from the point of view that the knowledge itself can be experienced, is valid cognition. Because the object is also self, it is self-awareness, therefore the grasping aspect is well explained as self-awareness. From the perspective of its object, it is also valid cognition, and through the way that wisdom appears as two, it is able to grasp itself, therefore the rationality of establishing it as self-awareness is also established. Although it appears as two, in reality it is not two, it is only one wisdom appearing, therefore the grasping aspect alone becomes self-awareness, while the grasped aspect does not have self-awareness. Even if the grasping aspect does not have another grasping aspect, it will not be without self-awareness, all these distinctions are easily established. Just like when pointing at the moon with a finger, only the fingertip is looked at, do not be deceived by the confusion of words, if you think carefully, you will understand the key to self-awareness. Second, explaining the proof. Proving the two ways of knowledge, and knowledge proving itself. First, relying on two knowledges to prove, and proving from the sign of later memory. First, showing the rationality of proving the two ways, and showing the faults of not admitting the two ways. First, proving after admitting external objects, and proving after not admitting external objects. First, the two ways of relying on the knowledge of the object.

Practice. Relying on knowing it, practice two methods. The first is to practice by relying on knowledge that has an object of apprehension and knowledge that does not. The first is that knowledge itself arises with the aspect of an object, and that meaning is established from examples. First, in general, these two methods of knowledge and the establishment of self-awareness are stated in the Pramana Sutra: The difference between the object and the knowledge of it is the two methods of mind. Later, from memory, those two methods and self-awareness are also established. Because without experience, there would be no memory. If knowledge is experienced by others, then there would be memory even for the endless one. Similarly, it is impossible to transfer to other objects, because that would also be seen. When explaining the meaning of what was said, first, relying on the Vaibhashika school, which accepts external objects, to establish the two methods of mind. Thus, all the five sense consciousnesses that arise from objects such as form, even though form etc. are the cause of other-powered mind etc., but by the nature of the dependent arising of things, knowledge will arise with the aspect of the object, and not with the aspect of other causes. Second, for example, the food and drink eaten by parents is digested into essence, and when menstruation occurs, and actions etc. are also the cause of giving birth to a child, but the child will take on the appearance of one of the parents, and will not take on the appearance of other foods etc. Just as the fetus in the womb, whether it is a boy or a girl, has a face etc. that is similar to the parents, similarly, objects such as form, and other-powered mind and objects etc., although they are the same as the cause of those sense consciousnesses, they arise with the aspect of the object, because from its point of view, knowledge of form etc. is its object. Because without the object that creates the image, there would be no such knowledge with an aspect, and without an object, one would not know the external object. Therefore, for knowledge that has an external object of apprehension, since they exist simultaneously, they cannot be cause and effect, but rather have the aspect created by the cause object, just as an image appears in a mirror due to the effect of the object. Second, the reality and refuting its answer. First, for the mind that has the self-characteristic of the object of apprehension and the object and the subject, the meaning will appear nakedly, thinking that the meaning
