Non-holder aspect. Even if it is not, self-cognition does not contradict the result. First, if the mere experience of inner consciousness becomes a valid cognition of external objects, then the holder aspect becomes a valid cognition of external objects. Because the apprehended aspect that appears as blue also has a holder aspect. If you say so, in the case of asserting external objects, the apprehended aspect that appears as things is itself the valid cognition of external objects, not the holder aspect. Even if there is a holder aspect, its object is the appearance of the inner mind, not other external objects. Therefore, the nature of the holder aspect of external objects is not to be observed, because it is a consciousness that looks inward. Here, the combination is easily understood: At that time, the appearance of things itself is the valid cognition, the nature of holding. Even if it exists, it is not of other things, because it is not an observation of external objects. Then, the apprehended aspect will not become a valid cognition of external objects, because it does not directly hold external objects. Even if it is considered that it does not directly hold external objects, for what reason? Just like the nature of blue and other things, like this, the consciousness abides in itself, like this, due to the influence of the thought of clinging to the appearance of external objects, it will definitely determine that external objects exist as they appear in the mind. The nature of the appearance of things is awareness, therefore it is called thing-awareness or consciousness. Appearing like this is the mind itself appearing as things, even if it is not the direct appearance of the nature of things, it is the establisher or valid cognition of external objects, because the aspect of things that abides or appears in the mind can do the function of understanding the meaning of the cause. Because of what? Just as blue and other things abide in the mind, the external objects can also be understood very clearly. Second, in this way, self-cognition will not become a result, because the apprehended aspect itself can do the function of understanding things, just as it was said before that understanding things is the result of valid cognition. If it does not act, then it cannot become a valid cognition, because it does not have the function of understanding things. Furthermore, the holder aspect cannot become a valid cognition because it does not make external objects the object, then self-cognition will not become the result of the valid cognition of things. Valid cognition and result are

Since there is no desire for other differences, how is self-awareness established as valid cognition and result in the view of those who speak of objects? Establishing external objects is because the apprehended aspect is its very nature, therefore, in terms of meaning, knowledge itself appears as blue, etc., and what is experienced by knowledge itself is only self-awareness, but in reality there is no knowledge that cognizes external objects. Even so, by acknowledging that external objects are hidden, it is merely in accordance with that, and it is thought that the outward-looking object is cognized. Acknowledging external objects is because there is no other way to establish it other than what appears in the mind. Therefore, the object of both the apprehended aspect of valid cognition (pramana) and the self-awareness of the result are not different. If one thinks about how the apprehended aspect accomplishes the act of cognizing the external blue, then merely clearly experiencing the blue itself is what accomplishes the act. If one asks how it is experienced, although it appears due to being deluded by the appearance of blue and the grasping of blue, when examining the nature of the apprehended and the grasper themselves, it appears in the aspect of the blue itself, in which the object and the subject have not been established. Even if one acknowledges the existence of external objects, the self-awareness of just the aspect of the blue itself is called the result, because the mind that arises in the aspect of the blue itself accomplishes the act of cognizing the blue. Therefore, in the face of the appearance of external objects, distinguishing between the two ways of looking outward and looking inward, and distinguishing between the apprehended and the grasper depending on the deluded appearance, even if explained in different ways, knowledge does not look outward and experience an object different from knowledge, and since there is no grasper independent of the apprehended aspect, therefore, thinking that one cognizes the object is actually the nature of self-awareness, therefore, everything experienced by knowledge is only the clear appearance of knowledge itself, and in any case, it does not go beyond the scope of self-awareness. If these distinctions are not clear, one will not understand how all minds become self-awareness, so careful consideration is very important. Second, the refutation of the argument that external objects are not suitable as objects of measurement: objects are causes, therefore they are measurable. There is no argument about appearances that are not causes. First, if, as those who say that knowledge has aspects, what appears to knowledge is not the object, and the object is the cause of that aspect, therefore one only measures one's own cause, and the external object itself will not become measurable, is that so? Measuring the cause is also the object.
