For example, seeing things that appear now, but later not wanting to see them in that way, and so on. Similarly, for the same sound, there are instances of auditory cognition arising subsequently, as well as turning away, and so on. What brings pleasure to the senses of some animals can cause suffering to others. These are not necessarily just choices made by consciousness; for example, when animals are given food they have never eaten before, their tongues experience it pleasurably and they consume it, while some reject it. Here, although it is only spoken of in terms of analogy, if we infer from this, then someone with yellow eyes focusing on a yellow conch shell, although that appearance would not arise without the conch as the objective condition, no matter how the shape of the conch appears, when focusing on its yellow color, even if such a yellow conch has never existed in the external world, that shape appearance, which is inseparable from yellow and substance, if it is not an appearance of consciousness, then it would be established in the essence of the thing itself. Therefore, in the view that the essence of external objects is directly grasped by consciousness, it is impossible for a clear appearance of illusion towards the object to arise. Because the way it appears is the very nature of the thing, it is impossible for contradictory qualities to exist in the thing itself in that way. Although this kind of seemingly manifest phenomenon arises from the senses being corrupted, since the appearance of a yellow conch, appearing as the nature of the conch, the essence of the external object, is established merely as an appearance of consciousness. Then, the appearance of a white conch is the same, because experience proves that there is no difference in the way things appear and the appearance of the thing itself, so it should be understood that there is an appearance of consciousness. Even so, for the moment, if we assume the view of external existence, there is no difference in the appearance of consciousness between the appearance of a white conch and the appearance of a yellow conch, but the appearance of a yellow conch is corrupted by illusion, while the appearance of a white conch is not corrupted, therefore it should be said that the external object itself, as the creator of the image, is white. Similarly, the appearance of trees appearing to walk, etc., all illusory appearances and all different appearances of karmic appearances are undeniably experienced as different images. If the creator of the image, the common object of observation, exists in the way that each sees it, then all views would become valid cognitions, therefore what is the state of the object here, and which subject is valid

The establishment of would become impossible. Just as each person sees things differently, they use terms of knowledge to refer to things in this or that way. However, whether the appearance of the object is stable or unstable, and whether the perception of the subject is contaminated or not, are the basis for distinguishing between valid and invalid minds, just like perceiving a white conch and perceiving a yellow conch. Therefore, in the context of asserting external objects, the object to be measured by valid cognition of objects can never be established as an object with various contradictions that is established by valid cognition. Therefore, it is necessary to definitively affirm that it is a white conch, just as one temporarily accepts it. Therefore, the appearance of different things is not merely accepted as an appearance, but as if the object itself appears nakedly. In that case, how it appears to each individual is how it is established for that object. If it is not established in that way, then it is merely an appearance of each person's habitual imprints, and the common external object to be observed would not be established either. Due to the power of each person's habitual imprints or karmic appearances, no one can determine that this is the common object other than what is seen. This is very important in the context of valid cognition that analyzes conventional truths, so it should be carefully considered. Secondly, self-awareness is the result. Previously, in the first instance of valid result, merely understanding the object was said to be the valid result, but upon careful analysis, it must be self-awareness. Therefore, even in the system that asserts external objects, self-awareness becomes the result. How so? Experiencing the object is experiencing the image that resides in the mind, not experiencing the object nakedly. Therefore, even in the system that asserts external objects such as blue as the object to be measured, it is reasonable to consider self-awareness, which is the experience of knowledge itself, as the result of valid cognition. For what reason? Just as the nature of the appearance that appears as blue, etc., is experienced by knowledge itself, so too is the external object determined in that way. Otherwise, it is impossible to determine that the external object is this or that. Therefore, even if there is an object, self-awareness is the result, let alone the system that does not assert external objects. Secondly, in the system that asserts external objects, the refutation of the objection that self-awareness is not a valid result: refuting the fault that the apprehended aspect is valid cognition, refuting the fault that the external object should not be the object to be measured. First, from the perspective of thought.
