Also, it is for the sake of realizing the object. Moreover, the two cognitions that grasp the same object will not change in sequence, one after the other. Since the previous valid cognition has already realized the object, what is there to realize by adding another? Like binding what is already bound, or proving what is already proven, there is nothing for the later cognition to do, so there is no need for it to arise. If it were to arise, it would be like cutting a tree that has already been cut, which is unnecessary. It is also unreasonable for two different cognitions to arise repeatedly, because if the same object were to generate multiple cognitions that focus on itself, they would arise simultaneously. Since there is no difference in the cause, there is no reason for them to arise sequentially. If you are concerned about that fault and assert that the two cognitions that grasp the difference and the differentiated arise simultaneously, then because they are simultaneous, they will lose their nature as cause and effect, or as what is to be established and what establishes, because it is impossible for them to help each other. Second, if simultaneous what is to be established and what establishes are not valid, then it is the same for you, because you do not accept that valid cognition and its result exist sequentially. It is not the same, because in our system, valid cognition and its result are established as what is to be established and what establishes based on the distinction between the activity of measuring the object and realizing the meaning, from the aspects of opposition, but we do not accept them as cause and effect of what generates and what is generated. Third, in three parts: stating the consequence and refuting its answer. First, the logician who asserts that mere sense-object connection is valid cognition says: In our system, there are six types of connection: the connection of conjunction, being included in conjunction, being included in the inclusion of conjunction, the connection of inherence, the connection of being included in inherence, and the connection of conjunction and difference, and the differentiated. These are, in order, the eye sense faculty and so on meeting with the object, the pot's own qualities such as form being inherent, the pot's form itself being in the pot's form, the ear and sound being inherent, sound itself being in sound, and when the eye sense faculty is connected with a location, the absence of a pot in that location being connected as a quality of difference, and so on. The word "itself" should be understood as referring to the generality of those. Therefore, when the sense faculty and object do not meet, the cognition does not function as the measurer of that object, but it does function as the measurer after they meet.

Therefore, it is said that the combination of the root consciousness and the object itself is valid cognition. Regarding this, if it is said that the sameness of the object is not the realization of the object, but rather due to the connection, then when the eye faculty is connected with the shape of the vase, the tactile sensation and the generality of the vase are all connected to it. If it is said that the eye consciousness that grasps the vase must be connected with all the qualities of the vase itself, then the certainty that the eye consciousness only grasps certain qualities such as the shape of the vase, which is a special realization, will not change. Because it has been promised to measure the object through connection, and there is no distinction in connection. Thus, even if there is no difference in the connection, on what grounds is it thought that the shape of the vase is like this, the tactile sensation is like that, and thus the qualities of the object are recognized as different? The sameness of the object is the cognizer of this vase, validity itself, while connection cannot do anything to cognize it, just as analyzed in the case of the faculties. Second, in this way, when the connection is established, even if the vase is connected with many special qualities, it will not be cognized by one mind, because the objects of the mind are determined separately. If it is said that this is because the habitual fabrication of the mind, which has become a quality of self, causes the objects to be determined separately, just like the inner attention. That is not reasonable, because if the entity of the sameness of the object does not exist, then the statement that "objects are determined separately from fabrication" cannot be established. Even if there is no sameness of the object, but if they are determined separately from fabrication, then there must be separate determination even before the consciousness that is the same as the object arises. However, determining the object before there is a consciousness that follows the object is as meaningless as a blind person watching a dance performance. If there is sameness of the object, then it will distinguish the objects, so it is meaningless to consider the fabrication of self as the cause, just as a sighted person sees a shape and says that the stick held in the hand makes the shapes seen separately. Third, the refutation of the root argument is: If, like you, it is thought that the action (realization of the object) and the agent (sameness of the object) are the same consciousness, then is it not contradictory to think that validity and result are the same? This statement is not true. Is it the same without difference in conventional terms, or is it contradictory because there is no difference in ultimate terms?
