None. Second, explaining the reason for illusion and how to understand it from examples. First, conceptualizations that rely on symbols and conceptualizations that impose things on other things are the cause of mistaking for root consciousness at times when the distinction between conceptual and non-conceptual is not clear, because they occur together with direct perception and approximation, that is, nearby. For example, when seeing a mirage of blue and swaying phenomena composed of elements, because it resembles water seen before, one thinks "This is water," and thus mentally imposes other things, namely water, upon it. Therefore, the logicians say that the consciousness arising from the encounter of root and object should not be called nominal, thereby excluding the phenomenon of two moons, etc. Since it cannot prevent the perception of mirages as water, it is intended to exclude it by saying "the nature of clinging to non-illusion" in the definition, so they consider illusion consciousness to be root-born. Furthermore, when seeing a vase, the outsiders say that there is conceptualization in direct perception that grasps the vase itself, actions such as lifting, and the qualities such as blue, combining them from different aspects, just as they consider the general characteristic to be the object of direct perception, and conceptualize in a coarse and continuous manner, thinking "This is the taste of the seed" or "This is the cause of the fruit," etc., believing that conceptualizations of meaning combination and name combination exist in direct perception. Second, how to understand? Since the self-characteristic of the measurable is a hidden thing, the four conceptualizations of memory, etc., including manifest desire, inference, and its result, have the nature of relying on symbols to grasp their own objects, therefore, they do not grasp the self-characteristic of the thing that has become the object of direct perception. Therefore, without remembering the previously experienced symbol and its meaning, there would be no knowledge of the general characteristic and qualities, etc., of things such as vases, nor would there be knowledge of mirages as water, etc., therefore, they become conceptualizations rather than direct perception, which should be understood. Second, explaining the sutra's intention and one's own system, refuting the views of other commentators. First, in this context of explaining direct perception, the fourth non-conceptual illusion consciousness is a special case, namely, "like direct perception, accompanied by dimness." What is said is that it appears clearly in direct perception.
