After separation, the mind that arises with the nature of the object in what manner is the immediately preceding condition. Thus, when these three conditions exist, it is seen that happiness and suffering, etc., will definitely arise. The mind that grasps form, etc., and the happiness, etc., of its retinue are also the same as this, that is, they arise from the three conditions. Second, although it is known that they arise from the three conditions, it is feared that the manifestation of inner happiness, etc., at that time is unavoidable. If it is said that when these three conditions do not exist and exist, at certain times and places, some people will experience mental happiness, etc., and the wisdom of the dominant mind, empowering mind, etc., these arise and do not arise in sequence, therefore, happiness, etc., arise from these three conditions, and not from other self-attributes, aggregates, etc. Because after abandoning these three conditions, it has never been seen to arise from them. When the three conditions come together, they are able to arise by themselves, so it is seen that they do not depend on others. Happiness, etc., are the result of these three conditions alone, and not of others, because following and contradicting have never been seen. If one abandons the definite cause of seeing following and contradicting, and speculates on other causes, it would be like thinking that clay, etc., are not the cause of a pot, but that linen, etc., are its cause. Furthermore, if happiness, etc., are not experiencing the nature of the mind, but are experiencing or merely seeing different things, then just as remembering past suffering, etc., or seeing pots, etc., happiness would not bring benefit, and suffering would not bring harm. Third, just as happiness, etc., and consciousness are the same because the cause is the same, all consciousnesses arising from the three conditions would be no different in the way happiness and suffering, etc., arise, therefore happiness, etc., do not arise merely from the three conditions, but are the attributes of the inner self. If this is thought, although they are the same only in arising from the three conditions, happiness and suffering, etc., including equanimity, will arise differently and distinctly because the differences in these conditions themselves are different. Because of the difference in the objective condition, being pleasing and displeasing, and the inner attention, it will appear as harm to some and as happiness to others, such as women to those who are greedy and hateful. Moreover, the difference in the senses is also different, such as fire to a wild animal with cleanliness and to an ordinary person.

For an example that is established for both debaters, it is like arising from a sensory object, although similar, some parts of the consciousness itself clearly enter that object, some parts are unclear, and some parts become hesitant. Therefore, the actor of past karma gathers the causes and conditions for experiencing happiness and suffering. Second, the experience of happiness etc. is not experienced by other things, but is self-aware. If analyzed, happiness etc. are self-aware. It is reasonable to understand the meaning through this term. First, sensory and consciousness enter sequentially and simultaneously. Among various views, refute happiness etc. being experienced by other things. First, refute by examining the object-possessing consciousness. Refute by examining the object to be taken. First, separately clinging to the object and happiness, and refuting the view that both are clung to. First, sensory consciousness does not cling to happiness in its own time, and alternating clinging is unreasonable. First, the experience of happiness etc. is undeniably established, and if the thing to be experienced and the subject experiencing are different, it is unreasonable, therefore it is experienced through the way of self-awareness. If it is not like that, happiness etc. cannot be experienced, because whether it is thought that sensory consciousness and consciousness arise simultaneously, or that they do not arise simultaneously, it is unreasonable to cling to happiness. According to the first view, then, for any object such as form that is close to the object taken by the senses, the consciousness clinging to that object and the feelings that arise simultaneously with it, such as happiness etc., are established through experience. Since such an object to be taken has been abandoned, how can sensory manifestation understand the qualities of the inner self, such as happiness etc.? Since the nearby object has been abandoned, how can it focus on the meaning within that is not its own object? It is impossible to focus. If it cannot focus, then the happiness that the senses enjoy from the object cannot be felt by anyone, because people think that the object itself is not the cause of happiness. Therefore, at the moment when sensory consciousness is arising for the object, if that happiness is not a mental event arising from that object, then it is unreasonable for it to arise in that way in its own time, and you think that consciousness will not arise at that time either. Second, if it is not clinging to the object and happiness simultaneously, but sensory consciousness clings to the object sequentially, and consciousness clings to happiness, then there will be an interval between the experience of the object and happiness.
