If it is said, will it also hold other places? No, because it follows its own meaning, such as the simultaneous aggregation of the root and consciousness of the blue object, and then the first moment of blue apprehension arises immediately after that. The blue-apprehending sense-manifestation follows its own object of apprehension, the previous moment. When the first moment of blue apprehension aggregates with the simultaneous blue moment, it is dependent on the meaning simultaneous with itself, because it aggregates with it and gives rise to mental manifestation. Therefore, when the first moment of blue apprehension gives rise to mind, the object simultaneous with it is the co-operative cause for the arising of its mental manifestation. Such a root-born intellect is the cause of the first moment of blue-apprehending mental manifestation without which it does not arise. Therefore, the objects of apprehension of these mental manifestations are not what the first moment of blue-apprehending sense-manifestation apprehends, because the first moment of blue apprehension is the blue moment simultaneous with itself, even if it does not apprehend a moment different from the object of its immediate cause, the sense-manifestation. It is also desired to necessarily hold the same kind of object as the sense-manifestation, because the mind also arises only from the aspect of the object that creates the image for the sense-manifestation. Therefore, the blue moment simultaneous with the first moment of blue apprehension is held by both the second moment of blue-apprehending sense-manifestation and the first moment of mental manifestation, but because they are simultaneous, neither becomes a decisive consciousness but is valid. For example, if one blue is simultaneously perceived by the valid eye consciousness of two people, both are valid and neither becomes a decisive consciousness. Or, if one person simultaneously perceives sound and form, both manifestations are valid. Or, two eyes, left and right, perceive one blue It cannot be said that the measure arising from only one of them is not a measure, just like this. If so, since it is the intellect of one person's continuum that focuses on one object, will it become one measure? No, even if only the object is not different, it is because it is a consciousness arising from a different basis, just like sound consciousness and form consciousness. End

Since they arise from different sources, even if the entities of consciousness are regarded as different, in the mind of a single individual at the same time, the self-awareness that is merely clear knowing is a single nature of consciousness and will not become different continuums. As it was previously shown that although one consciousness appears as many, it can still be regarded as one. Therefore, regarding this manifestation of sense consciousness and mind consciousness, there are four views: arising alternately; from the first moment of sense consciousness onwards, only mind consciousness exists; the continuum of sense consciousness arises continuously; and from the first moment of sense consciousness onwards, they arise in continuous association, and eventually at the last moment of sense consciousness, the last moment of mind consciousness arises. Among these four views, only the last one should be accepted. Regarding the existence of mind consciousness apprehending form, etc., there is no logical proof apart from scripture. Although in some examples, the successive arising of sense consciousness and mind consciousness is considered the lowest view, the common knowing of all five, form, etc., is mind consciousness, otherwise, the five sense consciousnesses cannot apprehend anything other than their own objects. Whenever the eye does not look at an object and is closed, there is no manifestation of eye consciousness, and the same is true for all others. How the five sense consciousnesses see the characteristics of form, etc., and later remember them, if that is not mind consciousness, then what is it? If, other than the five sense consciousnesses that see the object, there is no need for a mind consciousness that sees the object at that time, then the mind consciousness and sense consciousness at that time would be indistinguishable. If one remembers what others have experienced without having experienced it oneself, that would be too extreme. If one remembers because the continuum is the same, then eye consciousness would also remember sound. If it is thought that sense consciousnesses do not remember each other because they are each focused on their own objects, then it is established that there is a mind consciousness that clearly sees the characteristics of the five objects, form, etc., because the knowledge of remembering how the five objects, form, etc., were experienced is established through experience. That kind of mind consciousness also does not arise alternately with sense consciousness, because in the uninterrupted continuum of moments when the sense faculty and the object gather, the preceding consciousness is also the immediate condition for the subsequent consciousness, and there is no incomplete cause, so there is no obstacle to the uninterrupted arising of sense consciousness. Since the sense consciousness and the appearing object are continuously focused on, the alternating or the arising of only mind consciousness from the second moment onwards is
