Therefore. If the object is momentary, but the past object already apprehended by the mind consciousness is merely recollection, then all other recollections should not be accepted as direct perception, and the difference of this (recollection) being a valid cognition must be explained. Furthermore, if one re-grasps what has already been determined, it is not reasonable to be a valid cognition, because the agent (consciousness) as the previous valid cognition, for the object to be measured or the action to be done that has already accomplished the act of completely determining on that object, for that, the previous action has been done or understood, and does not make any difference, for that, how do those born from the senses such as the eye or other mental direct perceptions, etc., consider it to be the manifester or knower or accomplisher of what was previously unknown? Just as it is impossible to apply the act of cutting with an axe again to a tree that has already been cut. If, according to the tenets of the outsiders, it is thought that the same permanent object is known again and again by many valid cognitions, then the mind arising from the permanent object of the object to be grasped should also arise simultaneously in all the past and future, because the object to be grasped, which has no difference between past and future, is the cause of the mind's arising. If it is thought that even that one object to be grasped depends on the co-operative conditions such as the senses and attention of the past and future arising in sequence, and sequentially generates self-grasping consciousness, then this is not feasible, because the permanent cannot be differentiated by other conditions, therefore it is contradictory to rely on those other conditions other than itself. Therefore, mental direct perception does not re-grasp what has been determined by the senses, so there is no fault of not being reasonable to be a valid cognition. Second, it is impossible to re-grasp what has been grasped by the senses, therefore, the mind consciousness arising from the immediately preceding condition of the previous moment of the sense consciousness having ceased is grasping an object different from what was grasped by the previous sense direct perception, that is, the second moment, therefore it is not a consequence of a blind person seeing things, etc., because without the immediately preceding condition of the sense direct perception, it does not arise. Third, refuting the fault of uncertainty about the object. Refuting the impermissibility of the cause and condition of the sense object. First, if that mind does not grasp what was previously grasped by the sense direct perception, then there is no certainty that the sense direct perception and the mental direct perception are the same object, because that mind, which has become the immediately preceding condition of the sense direct perception, knows trees and kalpas, etc.
