Even if it is admitted that what appears is confused and not real, in name, even if there is one consciousness that appears as diverse, should it also be so in reality? In general, it is undeniable in both reality and consciousness that many things are nominally established as one. However, on the level of name, it is different for one consciousness to appear as diverse and for one thing to have diverse qualities. For example, a consciousness of a variegated sense faculty perceives various colors such as blue and yellow simultaneously, because that single consciousness arising from the faculty experiences it in that way, without any difference in time or lineage. Therefore, the appearance of blue and so on does not depend on other differences of consciousness as an independent basis, because it is impossible to separate the consciousness of the yellow appearance at that time and point out, "This is the consciousness of the blue appearance." Therefore, it can only be experienced through the clarity and awareness of consciousness, and cannot be distinguished. The eye consciousness in a person's continuum can grasp the various objects that are close to it in the same way, but there is no need for separate consciousnesses that grasp blue and so on individually. Therefore, it is called one consciousness grasping many things, just as one mirror reflects many images. Like that, it is impossible for a single thing to exist without separate, discontinuous aspects, because blue can only produce the grasping of blue, and one blue cannot produce many grasps. If it is said, "The distinctions of blue and so on are also the same for variegated cloth and so on," then why can't the blue and so on seen in consciousness be distinguished one by one, just as variegated cloth is distinguished? If it is analyzed by making it an object with universal wisdom, then distinctions such as "This is the consciousness that sees blue," "This is the consciousness that sees yellow," "This is the consciousness that sees a square," will appear. These distinctions are directed towards the various parts of the external object, and are not divided and distinguished in the essence of consciousness, because consciousness does not exist in a divided manner on different objects. If it is possible to distinguish clearly, just like distinguishing objects, then it is possible to distinguish consciousness into color and shape, and even to distinguish the boundaries of the edges. If this cannot be done, then it is impossible to distinguish color and shape.

The differentiation into various distinctions based on posture, etc., does not actually lead to the application of knowledge that falls into meaning. For example, although a horse and an ox are not the same, the appearance of a horse and an ox in a dream is no different from knowledge. Therefore, it is not contradictory that both of these appearances are the essence of knowledge, and when experienced simultaneously by knowledge, although they appear separately in the face of self-awareness, the experiencer self-awareness is one and cannot be separated. Therefore, it is reasonable that one knowledge appears as various grasper and grasped. Therefore, if measured on the basis of the existence of external objects, if the grasper aspect and the grasped aspect are not distinguished, without investigation, in accordance with the mundane, generally speaking, one mind cognizes many things simultaneously, there is nothing unreasonable in this statement. Because the multiple minds in one person's continuum that are not interrupted are established by experiencing simultaneous appearances. If each object is completely cut off as different minds to see, then the state of one mind experiencing multiple things simultaneously would not be possible. But inwardly, self-awareness establishes that one knowledge without clear and distinct parts experiences, therefore the statement that one mind sees multiple things is reasonable. Otherwise, it would become different like multiple people experiencing, and the statement of one continuum experiencing knowledge would not exist. Regarding this, at this time, the view of this treatise is that those who say manifold non-duality say so based on these words. Regarding this, manifold non-duality means that although there are manifold grasped aspects, it is considered to be the nature of one grasper aspect. If this reasoning establishes that the grasper aspect is one, then the grasped aspect will also become one, because it is the essence of knowledge, it does not depend on other differences, that also has it, in that case, the statement of half an egg and half a vegetable would also become without fault. Therefore, this reasoning only shows the reason why acknowledging one mind and acknowledging one thing are not the same in terms of expression, it is not establishing the reason for manifold non-duality. Therefore, as long as the grasped aspect appears as manifold existence, then its grasper aspect also appears as that many, because one of them does not exist, both will disappear. As it is said, the reasoning is the same. Such manifold grasped aspects and grasper aspects, like external objects, do not have separable distinct parts.
