Since other-exclusion is ultimate and enters by being connected with mental other-exclusion, listening is thus what excludes others. Therefore, even when seeing the own-character and expressing "this name is this," it is for the sake of seeing or knowing and obtaining the thing itself, which is the result or necessity, that the expression is made. Therefore, just as the meaning that is indicated and the name are related, the other-exclusion that cuts off the non-own-nature itself becomes related to sound, but not related to the own-character. Because that cannot be actually known later, etc., it ceases in that very instant, so it is not related to the name. The naming is related to such a meaning even later, and there is also knowing and entering the meaning from the name. Therefore, when a name is given based on something, it is necessary to consider not seeing that name enter into a kind that is not it. That is, it is necessary to consider the aspect of not entering, and it is necessary to obtain not entering, and it is necessary to consider seeing that name on some objects that are of the same kind as oneself, that is, entering by relying on that same kind. In short, the entering and not entering of that name depend on the two aspects of same kind and different kind. It is not necessary to separately indicate what is relied upon, entering the same kind, not entering the different kind, being established simultaneously, that is changed only by the fact that the other-exclusion of that thing is related to sound, entering on some and not entering on some, that is not permissible to be related to the own-character of the thing. If a name is given to one own-character of a pot, then would other cows, etc., that are not this, also become pots? In this way, entering the dissimilar side cannot be prevented either. Or, just saying that seeing this alone is a pot, then the name entering other pots cannot be established naturally. Because no one can indicate that this enters all such similar aspects, indicate all dissimilar aspects, and indicate that this does not enter, sound and own-character cannot be related. Even if an expression is made to the own-character, only the other-exclusion of the place of naming is established, due to this key point, without seeing the two aspects, entering and returning are established simultaneously, it can be seen through the path of reason that that is such a meaning. Third, summarizing the meaning. Because of what was said above, from kinds and qualities, etc.

Because the thought arises that I exist, therefore, even the wisdom born of the senses, even if it does not take self-characteristics as its object, can go anywhere according to its own wishes, merely by means of signs and effort, just like the wisdom with conceptualization. In that case, the reality of external objects will not be seen clearly. Because it is an object that only proceeds according to desire, it is a consciousness that does not need to rely on the apprehended meaning. If the apprehended meaning is seen, wouldn't it be like a conceptual mind without the apprehended meaning of its sign, not grasping it? If it is the object of the apprehended meaning, then why rely on signs? It is merely the appearance of the nature of the thing itself. If it is not like that, then no one would ever be confused about signs, because even the sense consciousness of animals, etc., who do not understand signs, can grasp signs, so it would follow that they would know everything without relying on the signifier. Here, it is sufficient to have only the mixed grasping of sound and meaning, it is not necessary to be able to mix, because merely being able to mix is not enough to connect names and things. Second, if all consciousnesses are conceptual, then it is too extreme, because: the object of experience, the aspects of grasping, and the experience are absent, and the self-characteristic of the object of action is not understood. First, it would follow that there is no self-awareness. Therefore, it is said to be too extreme. Therefore, the way to establish non-conceptualization is like this. First, because there is no self-awareness, experience is not reasonable. This is the refutation of the answer to its fault. First, if seeing a form is seeing it with the conceptualization of "this is a form," then how can one see at that time that the wisdom that grasps the form is like this? Because the conceptualization of seeing the form and the conceptualization of seeing the wisdom that grasps the form cannot exist at the same time. If it is impossible to see the wisdom that grasps the form directly with one's own wisdom, then if it is said that "this object's wisdom arose like this," if one undeniably experiences the aspect of that wisdom oneself, how can one deny that one has not experienced it? Because in this occasion of discussing terms, there is no need to rely on signs and history, etc., but one can judge anything by the power of experience, if this does not become manifest, then even blue will not become the manifest of eye consciousness. Just like experiencing blue manifestly, there is no need to doubt the wisdom that arises in oneself, it is established like this without being hidden.
