Regarding the Dharma that exists now, if it is determined that things are impermanent, the destruction of things that did not exist before, etc., like this kind of mind with different expressions, in the sect that believes it manifests as the unique nature of the self-characteristic without difference, showing differences with six words, etc., is not because the essence of things exists differently, because all such words have different dependent opposites, so words and consciousness will not become multiple, and things will not become different either. Second, refuting that repeated cognition is valid. There are three types: refutation, establishment, and debate removal. First, there is the refutation of reality and the removal of faults. First, as stated in the Pramana Sutra: "Repeated cognition is also not valid, because there are endless changes, like memory, etc." As stated, many pramanas refute that repeatedly knowing or recognizing one thing is valid, because all self-characteristics are momentary, each different from each other, so it is impossible to recognize the unique self-characteristic with direct perception or inference, thereby repeatedly recognizing it. If it is thought that even if there is no repeated cognition of the self-characteristic, the permanent Dharma existing on the self-characteristic can be repeatedly recognized through the self-characteristic, that is not correct, because the common characteristic other than the differences cannot be seen by consciousness, and if both the former and latter see the same common characteristic, because it is the mind of the same object, the way of grasping, even if there is no difference, because the latter grasps the same as the previous one, so it is not the object of the previous self-characteristic or difference, if it is, then the latter consciousness should not have any difference from the previously seen consciousness. Therefore, it is not grasping the permanent Dharma of the common characteristic, but grasping the object of discrimination of the former and latter common characteristics. Second, if it is said that like the person seen by direct perception before, in the later situation it is an example, because having seen Arura before, when seeing it later, knowing it is the previous Arura, taking this as an example, recognizing that the latter is also Arura, so it is not just grasping the common characteristic, but recognizing it again through the power of the previous pramana, then because the previous pramana has already known, has not forgotten, and exists in memory as an example, so when seeing the latter, it will inevitably naturally

If for something that has already been established, what can other new means of cognition do? Because (you) believe that it is the same in essence as the thing that was previously determined. If it is said that the thing seen previously was forgotten in the meantime, so the previous function has not disappeared, there is no fault, then, whatever is not in memory, and precisely because of forgetting, it is not an example of establishing that thing, because something that has not appeared in consciousness will not become a component of knowing other things. If it is said that even if it is forgotten in the meantime, the object of the previous thing is established by valid cognition in what is seen later, so multiple earlier and later valid cognitions repeatedly know the same self-characteristic, then, to insist that other things that are not the previous thing are the previous thing is a reversal, so the thing established by that consciousness is not a valid cognizer, because it is confused. If it is said that the objects seen earlier and later are one, there is no difference, so the cognition that says "the previous one is this" is not confused, then, both direct perception and the other, namely inference, repeatedly know only the difference of the same self-characteristic, because the objects of those two are not different, they are one, so if either one is established, both are established, there is no need for other valid cognitions, because the object has already been cognized. Even if cognition is needed, then valid cognition will be endless. Or, combine direct perception with the thing seen previously, and the other thing seen later. Therefore, for something that has already been established by the previous direct perception, the later direct perception has nothing new to cognize, just as a blue lotus has already been established, it cannot be recognized as blue again, and just as it has already been recognized that there is fire somewhere, there is no second recognition. Therefore, for the view that admits that the objects of cognition of earlier and later direct perception are one, the later valid cognition can only be a decisive cognition, and if in the meantime, the function of the previous decision disappears and is forgotten, then will the later valid cognition become valid? Even if it is forgotten, it is impossible to recognize the previous one, and if it is not forgotten, then for the same object, the later valid cognition is meaningless. In our own system, it is impossible for all objects of direct perception to be one, so all non-erroneous direct perceptions are valid cognition for that self-characteristic, and the definite consciousness that thinks "the previous one is this" or "this is like this" are all only conceptual. Do not confuse with the views of other schools. Therefore...
