So, even if it is seen directly, since there is no difference in meaning, what new can be accomplished by inference on the nature of meaning for that which has no remainder? Inference is only a cause for knowing, not a cause for generating impermanence in things. Therefore, impermanence is established simultaneously with the establishment of things, but when that impermanence is not established or uncertain in the mind due to the delusion of the cause of confusion, in order to know or ascertain that the impermanence that has already been established is fully established in things, inference is applied, in order to dispel the inverted superimposition. Second, inference is applied to the uncertain. If there is no cause of confusion, then it is not needed. First, the situation where seeing is also uncertain. Therefore, inference is applied. First, the uncertain situation of outer and inner. First, it is uncertain that there is a cause of confusion externally. If there is not that, it is the situation of certainty. First, even though it has already been seen directly, there is a reason for uncertainty, because similar moments before and after exist without interruption, so when the reason is not examined, sometimes it is not possible to fully know that the nature of the arising and ceasing of moments before and after is different, because the mind is confused into thinking that before and after are one. For example, just as a player quickly throws two balls, unable to distinguish the difference between the eggs, and confusing each other, the moments before and after things are different. Although that difference is seen directly, there is no seeing of difference in the mind, but rather a clinging arises thinking that the previous one is this one. Second, in this way, if there is no cause of confusion, even without a sign, beings from the wise to the children can completely determine the destruction at the time of extinction of lamps, sounds, and lightning, etc., whose continuums have no connection or connection with later arising. For that, because there is no cause of confusion, the experience of determining impermanence can be generated only through direct perception, because each moment is different in its own nature, so the previous moments are also the same as the situation seen. Second, the situation where it is uncertain due to the weakness of the inner mind is that things such as seeds having the ability to produce sprouts

If it is said, why is it not certain when the ability is grasped by direct perception, since there is no cause for confusion outside? It is not so, the ability is not different from the thing. If it were different, then the thing would never produce a result, and the ability would become infinite. Therefore, just like the heat of fire, even if the ability becomes the nature or dharma of the thing, it is only when it meets the conditions and gatherings that act together with it, or when it encounters the object, that the ability is produced. And that immediate moment before producing such a result does not exist; it is invisible. Therefore, since the cause is not seen to directly produce the result, even if the thing has the ability as the dharma of the thing, for those who are uncertain and confused, it is not clearly stated that this ability is this and that. Therefore, the ability is not absent when seeing the thing, but ordinary people cannot determine it in that way, because they cannot judge merely by seeing without relying on the state of seeing the result being produced. This is because the power of intelligence that accords with what the thing is like is not fully perfected. Second, since there are cases where even seeing is uncertain, it is necessary to use inference. If, due to the existence of adverse conditions of external and internal confusion, or the incompleteness of favorable conditions, it is not possible to determine as one sees the thing, and other superimpositions arise on the nature of the thing, then it is meaningful to state inference in order to dispel it, because it is the cause of certainty. Therefore, for inference, even for the same object, many inferences are applied, because many superimpositions may exist. Second, if one can be certain through seeing, then inference is not necessary. It has been shown that it is possible to be certain through seeing. Even if one is certain, many verbal elaborations do not arise. This is the reason for one's own certainty. First, like the noble ones who are able to realize what is seen as it is without superimposition, those with great intelligence can determine all aspects of how the nature of things such as impermanence exists merely by seeing, because their familiarity is clear and they are free from the ignorance tainted by confusion, just like a person with clear eyes sees an object. Moreover, compared to the seeing of ordinary people, the seeing with meditation is more excellent, and from the seeing of the Lesser Vehicle, the seeing of the Great Vehicle is more excellent.
