The ability to procreate and the power of substances, etc., at no time can the wisdom arising from ordinary senses be used as a cognitive factor to determine their existence, because if it is assumed that everything that cannot be directly perceived by the senses at other times and places does not exist, then the tangible senses and the power of seeds, etc., will completely disappear. If so, the wisdom of the senses and the arising of results will become causeless, because the senses and the power of seeds as causes do not exist at all. If it arises from no cause, it will always fall into the extreme of existence and non-existence. In the commentary on "The Wisdom of the Divine Senses," it is said that because the power of the senses cannot be directly cognized, the arising of sensory wisdom will become causeless. Here, the meaning is that although the power of the seed is the self-nature of the seed itself, one cannot determine that it has such power merely by seeing it. Furthermore, even if it is not seen now, but it exists because it is seen at other times and places, then the previous life should also be cognized by the previous senses, just as one believes that one's childhood and other states exist. The next life also appears as the object of future senses, just as one believes that one will exist tomorrow. In this way, although the senses are not the object of ordinary manifestation, they are established by inference through the accompaniment and return of wisdom, just like the opening and closing of the eyes. Like a sprout, it is also inferred as cause and effect by seeing the accompaniment and return, rather than the sprout not existing at the same time, so what sensory wisdom sees is only its own object, and it does not see the connection between before and after. In short, all manifestations are manifestations of the characteristics of the object itself because there is no universal clinging or concept that can mix sound and meaning, so it is merely entering the present object that has a graspable meaning. Apart from the appearance of manifestation, there is no concept of entering, returning, negation, and affirmation. Thinking about various terms of negation and affirmation represented by the past and future is a concept of universal clinging, because without a meaningful concept that can be mixed with sound, the wisdom of universal clinging will never arise. Therefore, all thinking about the existence or non-existence of non-manifest things is an inference about that object.

Yes, but not directly perceived. Second, to prevent many and few, there are two types: debate and response. First, others say that if the object of measurement is definitely two, then colors such as blue and sounds, etc., will not be determined by measurement to be impermanent, because color is a self-characteristic and impermanence is a common characteristic. The measurement that recognizes color as impermanent is correct, and the mind that recognizes it will become other three measurements, because it is a mixture of self-characteristic and common characteristic. The recognition that color is impermanent is also not necessarily inferential, just like when an oil lamp goes out, merely not seeing the color go out, it is determined to be impermanent, because there is such recognition without a sign. Also, after seeing the self-characteristic or characteristic of sandalwood fire in the room, when going behind the room, recognizing the characteristic of sandalwood fire from the smoke, because there is no recognition of the unconfused relationship between the smoke as a sign and the fire with characteristics, so it is not inference, and at that time the self-characteristic is not seen, so it is not direct perception, but because it is a measurement that is not confused about the object, so that is another measurement. In that case, because there are very many objects of measurement that are not determined to be two types of self-characteristic and common characteristic, then are there also very many measurements that measure them that are not determined to be two types? Because multiple measurements also enter into one object of measurement, therefore the numbers one and three cannot be excluded, for example, like the mind that sees the characteristics, multiple measurements enter into one object, therefore two measurements enter, and the number of one object of measurement cannot be excluded, and the objects of the two measurements are also not determined separately, because there are cases where self-characteristics are recognized through signs, and there are cases where impermanent common characteristics are recognized without signs, and because there are other three measurements that are not the two types of self-characteristic and common characteristic of the object of measurement, so they say. Second, the conclusive measurement is not three measurements, and also the three measurements of repeated recognition must be prevented. First, if recognized from a sign, it is inference, otherwise, the definite knowledge is not a measurement. First, the object of color destruction is a common characteristic, and the unreasonable debate about this must be prevented. First, the sutra says: Therefore, conclusive understanding is a measurement, and others are not. Just as it is said in the sutra, when the other party is seeing the self-characteristic, conclusively understanding the common characteristic of impermanence, that is a measurement.
