It is established in this way because it exists in meaning according to its mode of clinging. Second, in order to refute the view that valid cognition is not determined as two, establish the definite number of two. Refute the view of other numbers arising from that. First, the way in which the object to be measured is determined as two. From that, the means of measuring is determined as two. First, what is manifest is measured by direct perception. What is hidden is measured by inference. First, for any object to be measured, if it has the power of meaning as an object of apprehension, if that thing exists, there is a following of existence, and if it does not exist, there is a contradictory thought, direct perception is said to be the independent holder of that own-character object. Because the appearance arises from the existence of that thing alone, it does not depend on any other thing such as symbols, effort, marks, and so on. Therefore, the object of apprehension that appears in this way is determined independently by the wisdom of direct perception without relying on other reasons. Second, for the hidden, the means of measuring is shown as a sign. How that sign is understood. Therefore, it is certain that this is the only measure. First, any object other than the own-character that has become manifest, if one thinks and discerns about it, the present senses of that person have gone beyond the scope of direct perception, and because it cannot be determined by direct perception, what is not seen now is the nature of being hidden, the basis for thinking about its essence is something other than the object to be measured, not the object to be measured itself, because it is hidden. Therefore, the basis for understanding the hidden object to be measured is called a sign. Second, if one thing understands another thing, what would that be like? It is not that anything else is possible, because it would lead to everything understanding everything. Therefore, that sign is related to the sign-possessor to be proven or its own basis collection of meanings, and if the three modes are complete, then at that time, the other thing sign will understand the to-be-proven. Then, how is it related to its own basis? It is related to the subject of knowledge, that is, the property of the subject is established, and it is related to the property to be proven by not arising if it does not exist, that is, the pervasion of the following and the reverse is established, if the three modes are complete, then relying on the relationship, that sign will establish the to-be-proven without confusion. In this way, when understanding the to-be-proven from a sign that has the three modes complete, as an understandable sign, such as smoke, what follows is

The object to be proven, like fire, is merely the realization of the nature of the general characteristic of fire. Therefore, with respect to all the phenomena that exist in the meaning of the self-characterized object to be proven, which is hidden, it is not possible to realize them after distinguishing them. For example, from smoke, one can only realize fire, but one cannot distinguish its differences, such as fire from roots, leaves, sandalwood, etc., and the differences in the form and shape of bright burning. Because the mere sign of smoke and those different phenomena cannot be determined by the measure of concomitance and contraposition. Therefore, what is related to the sign is not confused with its own object to be proven. Third, from the sign that has become the law of the object to be proven and the relation of non-arising without it, for the subject that has been established as the law of its own side, the arising of the realization or knowledge of the object to be proven for the one who wants to know and enters into it is the measure of inference. Therefore, to prove the existence or non-existence, the truth or falsehood of the hidden meaning is definitely inference, and there is no other measure possible. Because the object to be measured itself is hidden, there is no choice but to have another means of realizing it. Since it is not possible to realize without deception by any other means, there is no other possibility than to infer based on the correct sign, which is established by reason. Second, the determination of the measurer as two: In the realm of the object to be measured, there is no other third kind of object to be measured other than the manifest and the hidden. Because these two do not mix with each other, and it is impossible to have both, therefore it is also impossible not to be both. Therefore, it is precisely because the realm of the object to be measured is determined as two that it is considered that the measures that measure these realms are also determined as two. And because it is seen that there are two kinds of objects to be measured, manifest and hidden, the assertion that there are three and one number of measures is refuted. Second, refuting the assertion that the measure is not determined as two, but that other numbers are asserted. Refuting the assertion that it is less than two and asserting one. Refuting the assertion that it is more than two. First, the statement of the former party and its answer. First, the दूरक्षेप者 says: The non-existent generalities, etc., are not objects to be measured, therefore, as the object to be measured, only the self-character is unique, therefore, the measure is only one, which is direct perception, this is what I think. Second
