It is not just about measuring the general characteristic, but even if the inferential cognition directly measures the general characteristic, it ultimately measures the specific characteristic through that means. Therefore, regarding what the specific characteristic to be measured is, direct perception realizes its own nature, and inference realizes the manner of that specific characteristic of the nature of other general characteristics. Therefore, the actual objects to be measured by the two valid cognitions are considered to be both general and specific characteristics. That is, when valid cognition engages with the manner of that specific characteristic, direct perception measures without being mistaken in reality, while inference measures by being mistaken and fixated on the general characteristic. However, both valid cognitions are similar in that they are not deceptive because they are established in the object's specific characteristic as they have been determined. However, there is a difference between the two: in direct perception, the specific characteristic appears directly, so there is no confusion about the object of appearance. On the other hand, the mind that grasps the general characteristic, such as inference, although it appears to fixate on the object of appearance of conceptual thought as if it were the nature of the specific characteristic, it is not established as such. Therefore, the second object to be measured, the actual specific characteristic, is mistaken as being present in its object when it is not actually present there. Secondly, if grasping something as what it is not, by the nature of the general other, if one understands the other specific characteristic, then it is deceptive and therefore becomes non-valid cognition. If that is the case, the thought of how inference determines is not deceptive, and it is established in the specific characteristic as such. Even if one is mistaken about the object of appearance as the specific characteristic, it is still valid cognition because it is not deceptive in meaning. That is, because it is seen that one can understand the other without error by other means, it is meaningless to say that the object is not valid cognition if one understands the other by the nature of the other. Because valid cognition is established in such a way that it is not deceptive only in how it determines the meaning, it is seen that it is not deceptive to others like that. For example, even though the moment of seeing and obtaining is different, the valid cognition that sees blue directly has already determined it, and even when it is seen later, it is not deceptive in just being blue. And, in a place where the mind that directly sees medicine and so on growing, relying on it, later when searching for medicine in that direction, one is not deceived in encountering medicine. And, like understanding fire based on other phenomena such as smoke, and so on, the world of understanding the other by the other is undeniably established. At the same time, if one grasps the specific characteristic through the way of the general characteristic, then the aspect of understanding the other by the other

In short, the so-called illusion is not meaningless in any way. Furthermore, various answers have already been given to the view that things measured in other ways cannot be understood in other ways. For example, if someone says that because the ultimate object of measurement is one, or is regarded as a common object, it will become the object of inference, then it has already been answered with "what is said itself is not a thing," and so on. If both think that the object of measurement is self-characterized, then thinking that the object of measurement cannot be two, it has already been answered with "that is the essence of self and other," and so on. If the object of both is self-characterized, then thinking that there will be no illusion and non-illusion, it has already been answered with "not the attachment that appears as it is," and so on. If it is said to be an illusion, then thinking that it is unreasonable not to deceive the self-characterization of things, it has already been answered with "what is actually related to things," and so on, which has already been answered in the first chapter. Therefore, even if it is an illusion, in order to illustrate that it does not deceive the attainment of things, one can cite common examples in the world: mistaking the light of a jewel for a jewel and running to take the jewel, and mistaking the light of a lamp for a jewel and appearing to want to take the jewel and running, both of these situations, although they are both inverted consciousnesses without distinction because they mistake the light for a jewel, there is a difference between the function of obtaining the jewel and not obtaining the jewel. Because mistaking the light of a lamp for a jewel cannot obtain the jewel, but because mistaking the light of a jewel and running, one can obtain the jewel. Analyzing this, the jewel itself is not determined by direct perception, nor is it inferred merely by being attached to "that is the jewel," but if one can also obtain things from it, then why say that it will deceive things merely because it is another thing, or merely because it is an illusion? One should understand that this statement is uncertain through this example. This situation of mistaking the light of a jewel for a jewel and not being deceived ultimately arises because it is related to the jewel, so Panchen Shakya Lodro and others believe that it is meaningful as a sign of the result. Like this example, even if the appearing objects of all inferences are similar to things that do not exist as they are self-characterized, but like the inference of understanding sound as impermanent, and like the inference of clinging to the understanding of sound as permanent, among these appearing or seemingly inferences, the inference related to the function of things, the state of self-characterized things, and the understanding of sound as impermanent, is the true valid cognition.
