That reasoning remains as before. Therefore, it is not admitted as such. Second, even if reasoning is not applied, as long as it is conceptual thought, it is definitely a matter of elimination and inclusion, which is explained as follows: Some people think like this: There is no elimination for the definite knowledge brought about by direct perception, because its superimposition has already been eliminated by the direct perception itself. If you think so, then for some things like blue seen by direct perception, the subsequent knowledge of it is a conceptual thought with the nature of generality, or a conceptual thought that holds the general meaning, but not a non-conceptual thought that holds the self-characteristic. It is only that it has not superimposed other aspects such as non-blue on that object, and it has become the object of eliminating the superimposition of non-blue, etc. Because the definite knowledge of blue itself and the hesitation of superimposing non-blue are the nature of mutual harm and interaction. Since these two cannot exist simultaneously in one continuum, wise people should know that this definite knowledge must enter into the absence or elimination of the opposite superimposition. Second, regarding the fault of sound and mind becoming multiple, refuting the opponent's answer to the reality and its fault. First, in order to eliminate the superimposition on sound of parts such as permanence and non-created, therefore, the conceptual thought of such certainty, and the sound expressing it, must also be that much. If it is determined to be that much, then these sound and mind are suitable to have different objects. Otherwise, if what is to be eliminated is not different, then things such as non-created and impermanent are the only ones, that is to say, on the self-characteristic of sound, there is no part of the only one, only using one expressing sound or one knowing mind to establish, in a way that pervades to cut off. Then, these sound and mind are not the objects of other and other objects, or do not enter into different objects, therefore, for the sound and mind of non-created, impermanent, etc., if there is no different meaning to be expressed, then it will inevitably become multiple, because no matter what is expressed, all understand all, there is no difference. Second, refuting the opponent's answer that the fault is not established: According to the views of some non-Buddhists, just like sesame seeds sticking to a lump of butter, various dharmas exist on one dharma, and they are not mixed together. When the mind holds them, the differences such as non-created

If, like the sound of a thing with various properties, it is held by virtue of the ability to benefit different characteristics, will the sound-mind not become different kinds? In response to that, there is no mere characteristic that is unrelated to the characterized thing, because there is no reason to establish it as a characteristic. If it is related to the characterized thing, does that characterized thing help its own characteristics or not? If it does not help, then the characterized thing and the characteristic will become unrelated. If it helps, then is that ability to help in that way the same entity as the characterized thing or a different entity? Firstly, is the characterized thing, like sound, from among the abilities that are the limbs or causes that benefit the various properties of its own characteristics, of a nature that is inseparable in essence from them? If that single nature, like sound, which has no different parts from those abilities, is grasped as a whole or completely, then it is not certain which ability benefits the particulars to be benefited, such as impermanence, because all the abilities of the benefactor that are inseparable from it are necessarily certain. The reason is that all those abilities are essentially related inseparably to the nature of the characterized thing. If one knows any one of them, such as benefiting what is made, then both, such as benefiting impermanence, will necessarily be grasped simultaneously. Thus, even if one says that one grasps by way of different abilities, one cannot avoid the fault that all abilities necessarily become certain simultaneously. Secondly, are those abilities that benefit the characterized thing and the properties of the characteristic different? What are those abilities of the able or characterized thing, or are they not? If one asserts that, then the characterized thing will be devoid of the ability to help those properties of the characteristic, and thus will become unrelated like a pillar and a pot. If the characterized thing itself does not have the ability to help, then another ability to help is needed between the characteristic and the characterized thing. If that is the case, then even for the ability itself, it is impossible to help without another ability. Therefore, the able and the ability will become different, and so on, and ultimately the ability will become endless, and helping will be impossible. If one thinks that ability does not need ability, but ability itself helps, then even if there is no ability different from sound, it is also established that sound itself helps. If in reality all the abilities to help exist simultaneously, but when the mind grasps, sound
