Since not everyone can understand it, it should be known that the self-reflexive, such as "what is made is impermanent," exists in a non-common, differentiated way. Second, to explain in detail the distinctions of excluding others, that is, to explain the way of entering by excluding the sound consciousness of things, and the way of entering by excluding the sound consciousness of non-things. First, the object-possessing distinction of things should be excluded, and the expression of the object-possessing of things should be excluded. First, there are two ways to avoid things and disputes about them. First, it becomes simultaneous to realize negation and affirmation, and sound and wisdom become diverse, thus establishing exclusion. First, there are two aspects: the general and the particular. First, the nature of a thing like sound, or its essence, if it is manifested by the knowledge of self-grasping with an object, then for that object, starting from the distinction of sound, what do the later validities, such as what is made is impermanent, need to examine? What other parts have not been seen before? There are none. Because in the manifested realm, the substance of the birth place, all the dharmas that are non-different from itself and its essence, exist on the thing itself, uniquely and without parts. Therefore, it is impossible to have two parts, seen and unseen, by reason. If some parts are seen and some parts are not seen, then it will be different from that. If seeing a vase, one also sees its made-is-impermanent because of manifestation, then there is no need to reason to prove that the vase is impermanent. Thus, when seeing a vase, although one sees all things on the vase that are identical in essence, such as made-is-impermanent, etc., it is because of seeing similar dharmas such as white color, just like mother-of-pearl appearing as silver. If seeing form, it cannot be determined as impermanent due to the reasons of illusion such as the appearance of other similarities, and if one does not apply or add other qualities that the thing does not have, such as permanence, etc., then you are right. However, in order to avoid the inverted clinging to permanence, etc., caused by being deceived by illusion, it is not necessary to prove it with reason. This is because mother-of-pearl and silver exist without mixing with each other. When seeing mother-of-pearl, there is absolutely no direct seeing of silver on mother-of-pearl, but one's own mind is confused because of the similarity.

Similarly, even if one cannot directly distinguish between prior and subsequent moments through sensory perception, the continuous appearance of similar external objects, and internal factors such as unclear consciousness and defilement by negative philosophies, create obstacles due to internal and external confusion, leading to incorrect clinging. Therefore, for a single phenomenon, there is no duality of appearance and non-appearance. Because when one sees something like sound, it is actually the same as seeing all qualities that are of the same essence, such as being produced and impermanent. However, due to the obstacles caused by confusion, one fabricates in a reversed manner. Although it seems that one sees the impermanence of sound, one cannot ascertain that sound is impermanent. Therefore, it is entirely reasonable to use the reason that sound is impermanent as a means of proof. This is the concluding verse. The second part is: The application of reason lies in elimination, which is reasonable. The non-application of reason is also shown to be elimination. The first point is: As mentioned earlier, when applying through proof, there is no distinction between seeing and not seeing, but when applying through conceptual elimination, there is a distinction between seeing and not seeing. Moreover, if one clings to the self-character of phenomena through subsequent inference, then because one must ascertain one object to be proven, it would follow that one clings to all phenomena that are of the same essence as that object to be proven, the reasoning being the same as before. If one accepts this, then other inferences become meaningless. If someone says, "Then you will face the same situation." The answer is no, because the inference that realizes sound is impermanent only proves the elimination of sound being permanent. Since that inference does not prove through the appearance of its own object, saying that the object of inference is elimination or other negation does not lead to this fault, because the object of fabrication can be different. As explained earlier, inference is applied through elimination. Therefore, all reasons are proclaimed to be the objects of determining what is not this or eliminating fabrication. If someone thinks that sudden inference is uncertain because there was no fabrication before, even if one suddenly sees smoke, it eliminates the clinging that there is no fire somewhere, so it is not that there is nothing to be eliminated. If we, like you, think that inference clings through the way of proving the self-character of phenomena, then if the subject of the proposition, such as sound, is established, then what need is there to prove other unestablished phenomena, such as impermanence, with other reasons?
