Therefore, if one remembers one's past experiences, it would lead to others experiencing and others remembering; if the actor disappears and others enjoy what others have done, it would lead to the invalidation of cause and effect. From these aspects, if one recognizes something later that one has seen before, it would lead to those who have not seen seeing, and those who have not experienced being recognized by others for no reason. These do not harm the Buddhist teachings, because some people believe that permanent, singular, and independent beings have no memory, which is consistent with the facts. Since permanent selves cannot have memory, etc., memory arises later from the awakening of the habitual imprints of previously experienced consciousness. Apart from the aggregates of no-self and the impermanent continuum, it is impossible for memory, experience, and recognition, etc., to arise in this way, and it is not reasonable in other ways. Second, to perversely impute the true nature of one's own system, the Four Noble Truths, as stable or permanent, blissful, and to grasp at self and what belongs to self, etc., due to being deluded by the sixteen incorrect aspects, one clings to them and becomes attached to the afflicted side, accumulating karma, and thus wandering in samsara. The craving that arises from the sixteen perverted aspects that contradict the suchness of the Four Noble Truths is destroyed by correct view. How is it destroyed? By cultivating well the aspects of the suchness of the Four Noble Truths, such as impermanence, suffering, no-self, emptiness, cause, arising, etc., this is the correct view. It destroys the craving that arises from perverse imputation, and if craving exists, the miserliness, etc., that arises from it or follows it, as well as contaminated karma, along with all the faults that throw beings into samsara. Second, refuting the view that liberation is attained by the exhaustion of karma and the body, divided into the main text and the refutation of its answer. First, the Naked Ascetics say: Through the power of asceticism, liberation is attained when karma and the body are exhausted, and if karma is not exhausted, liberation is impossible, because karma itself is very powerful and will involuntarily throw beings into samsara again. Therefore, if karma and the body are not exhausted, even if craving is abandoned, why would one not take rebirth again? This is not correct, even if karma and the body exist, one cause of taking rebirth is craving, and since there is no craving, the cause is not complete, that is, the three causes of karma, body, and craving are complete.

The kind of rebirth I need is impossible because if the cause is not complete, the result will not arise. For example, without a seed, even if water, fertilizer, soil, etc. are gathered, a sprout will not grow. So, if asceticism exhausts karma and the body, it is the same as not being reborn, so even if one does not abandon craving, is asceticism alone the path to liberation? It is not reasonable to abandon karma and the body, because there is no antidote that can be established by valid cognition to abandon the mere exhaustion of those karmas and bodies, so it cannot be known, and there is no need, because if craving is abandoned, karma and the body alone do not have the power to accomplish rebirth. Karma and the body cannot be abandoned alone either, because if craving exists, karma and the body will arise again, so even if the previous ones are abandoned, it is not helpful to not take rebirth. The naked ascetics' teacher, Increase, etc., say: It is not that we do not know the antidote, but that asceticism is the antidote to the exhaustion of karma and craving, so in order for both karma and craving to be exhausted, we strive in asceticism. Even so, if one knows the method of exhausting craving as it is, then it is reasonable to rely on it, but it is meaningless to rely on the hardship of asceticism for the sake of exhausting karma, because no matter how hard one tries, one cannot exhaust craving, and if craving is not exhausted, it is impossible for karma to be exhausted. If it is said that craving arises from the power of karma, so if karma is exhausted, it will also be exhausted. It cannot be determined that asceticism exhausts all karma, because in reality, various fruits of good and bad, happiness and suffering are seen. From this, it can be inferred that their causes, karma, also have different powers, therefore, one thing, such as the afflictions or suffering of asceticism like pulling hair and not eating, cannot exhaust all the karma that will experience various fruits. Therefore, some forms of the suffering of asceticism, even if they can make the result of the karma that produces a similar experience to it small or light, they do not make the result of the karma that is not of the same kind as the experience of asceticism not be experienced. Second, if the power of asceticism makes the power of other karma also mix with its own experience, then can relying on asceticism exhaust all previous karma? Oh, asceticism.
