Therefore, it is mainly stated with diligence. Here, in the translation of Lhawang Lodro's commentary: If I am without attachment, if I am without attachment to this, this is not to be abandoned, like myself. Therefore, there is no need to cultivate suffering. Although it is said that I am without attachment, there is no reason for being without attachment to innocent things. Even if it is said that there is no attachment to attachment, it cannot be abandoned, like myself. Therefore, even if suffering is cultivated, attachment will not be abandoned. Secondly, those who have not abandoned self-attachment, even if they cultivate suffering, they only recognize that it is suffering, but this suffering was already manifest in the past when there was attachment, like bodily pain and so on. Even so, they are not without attachment to it, just as no one is weary of samsara while experiencing suffering. Likewise, even if you recognize suffering, you cannot abandon it, because you do not understand the path that contradicts the root of cutting off craving, self-grasping, just as you do not understand taking medicine while experiencing the pain of illness. If sentient beings in samsara sometimes manifest suffering, but because they do not understand that the nature of all samsara is suffering, they will not be discouraged. But because we understand this, we are forever separated from attachment to samsara, just as a man who loses interest in one woman, although he will not lose interest in all women, but if he is very familiar with impurity, he will lose interest in all women. If one sees faults in the object of attachment, in the moment when the view of faults has not changed, even if the mind of attachment to that object changes. Attachment to that object will never arise, nor will it become a permanent separation. For example, a person with desire, although temporarily loses interest in one woman, will not lose interest in other women, just as losing interest through cultivating impurity towards all women is not losing interest in other things such as food and clothing. Even so, if one loses interest in all of samsara, then what else will one be attached to? Those who have not abandoned self-attachment, even if they lose interest in samsara, which should be abandoned, will not abandon the attachment that should be accepted because they are attached to the delicious taste of liberation, which is more joyful than this. Therefore, wanting to accept what is beneficial to oneself and not

If there is clinging that regards what should be abandoned as special, then attachment arising from any object, that is, attachment that focuses on it, is the seed of all attachments when it is generated by other various conditions, because for those individuals, there is not only attachment that views benefiting as something to be taken. Even if one does not cling to it because one sees it as an unnecessary object for a while, if the condition of seeing it as a necessary part later becomes close, then attachment will arise again even to what was previously abandoned. Just as attachment is seen to arise later even to women who were previously free from attachment; and just as a pile of manure, etc., is discarded, but if it is seen as necessary for fields, etc., it is taken back again. Second, the inference that attachment is also without fault: If there is a self, then attachment to it should not be faulty either, because it is consistent with reason. How so? Because attachment to the self, which is the object of the faultless, is also faultless, because seeing the faultless as the quality of the faultless is due to the power of the object. If so, then the very 'mine' that accomplishes the benefit of that faultless self is also faultless, because it naturally abides in accomplishing the benefit of that faultless self, just like the trident of Ishvara. If these are established as faultless, then if what is called a being is nothing other than the object of the self and the 'mine', then now to what object can one become detached? Because no object that should not be attached to is perceived. If it is said that attachment to the self and the 'mine' is also faulty, because it serves as the basis for binding to samsara. Then that fault is also the same for the self, because the two attachments that arise focusing on that self serve as the basis for arising directly and indirectly. Thus, even in that self, there is the same fault as the attachment to the object, but detachment is not made to that self, so if there is no detachment, then now to what object is that person detached? Because even though that individual wants to be detached, that self does not allow it even a little, just like a stingy owner does not like to give up his wife. Third, in any object, the clinging that arises from seeing qualities is destroyed by seeing faults.
