Khyapaṇḍita and others have accomplished it well. Second, the way in which the three definite characteristics are not confused. From the two types of signs, the establishing sign and the refuting sign. First, there are three parts: brief explanation, detailed explanation, and summary of meaning. First: Like fire and smoke, it is certain that they are objects of cause and effect, or like what is made and impermanent, it is a measure that determines the connection by nature, and if it is not, it is certain that it will not arise, and the following and returning are established. It is not established without error just because it is not seen in the dissimilar side. It is not possible to determine the pervasion of the following without error just by seeing it on the similar side. If one thinks that there is another knower other than the established connection between the sign and the dharma, such as smoke, what measure can determine that it and other things such as fire are necessarily inseparable? Although smoke is sometimes seen together with fire, if it is not determined to be a cause and effect, it cannot be excluded from being produced from non-fire, so this sign cannot make people believe that there is always something to be established. Similarly, the reason for self-nature is also the same. If it is not determined to be a connection of one entity, then like what is made and impermanent, they become dharmas with reasons of other different meanings, or, because whatever is made will perish, then the destruction is what is made and then destroyed, and it is a reason that depends on other meanings, just like clothes are changed with color on the original basis, it cannot be determined that only what is made will perish. This example should also be viewed in terms of meaning for things that have no prior connection, such as sometimes seeing pūlu and its yellow color gathered together, but it cannot be inferred that there is pūlu just because there is yellow. The distinguishing dharmas such as what is made and impermanent on the sound, if they themselves are the essence of other things and are the reasons for mutual understanding, then they will become others who cannot know whether they are the same nature. If so, then the reason why what is made becomes the understanding of impermanence can only be related by means of mutual assistance, because different dharmas do not help each other, there is no relationship, so it is impossible for it to become an established sign. Even so, because it is thought that impermanence arises after what is made, the cause of what is made is not impermanent, but

Even if the result of action is impermanent, how can it be certain that it is impermanent just because it is action? Because the result does not pervade the cause. Therefore, action and impermanence are different in essence, and there is no reason why they should not be confused through the relationship of cause and effect. Therefore, impermanence can never be established by the sign of action. Therefore, it should be known that the reason why the two proofs are not confused is due to the relationship. Second, detailed explanation. From the relationship of arising from that, the sign of the result is not confused. The relationship of self-nature and oneness is not confused. The first has two parts: the main text and the refutation. First, like this, the result of fire is smoke, so it will never be confused with fire. The reason is that smoke follows the dharma of the result, or the self-nature. Because it follows the dharma of the result of fire itself, or cannot exceed its state, just as water cannot exceed wetness. If the cause of benefit, fire, does not exist, then the result, smoke, may exist, then it will transcend having a cause and become causeless. What will happen if it arises without a cause? If it arises without a cause, then because it does not depend on or need a cause that benefits itself. It will exist forever in all places, or it will not exist at any place or time. The reason is that things arise or exist in a certain place at a certain time because they depend on the causes that gather in that place at that time, so they appear that way. Therefore, because it does not depend on causes such as fertile land. In rocks, oceans, and space, the growth of crops and all things cannot be set as the side that does not exist. And the things that appear also have no time when they do not exist, because at any time, there is no difference in setting whether the causes gather or not. If a cause is not needed, but it does not exist in a certain place at a certain time, then it does not exist there, just as it does not exist in other places. Because in that place at that time, and in other places, there is no cause for it, there is not the slightest difference, it exists in other places, but it does not exist here, which is unreasonable, because it will not exist in all places from all aspects. Therefore, whatever appears as a thing, there is nothing that is not occasional. Where they gather the causes, where is complete
