It is because of seeing various (situations). That is to say, even if the cause is mainly cold or the four elements are not in harmony, and the semen increases, in this case, for the same thing, various different states such as hatred and attachment will arise. How can this be said to be caused by the four elements and so on? Because there is no difference in the cause. Therefore, this is obviously due to the difference in inner thoughts. Second, the states of greed, hatred, etc. are uncertain, and various states arise. This is impossible for the statement that it is produced by wind and so on. Regardless of the view of which sect, if it is admitted that greed, etc. are inherited from beginningless time, and arise depending on the different differences of similar habits, then for those who admit this view, there will be no fault of accusing others as mentioned above. Because due to the different inner habits of beings, greed, etc. have strengths and weaknesses, and there are also differences in the way they arise for the environment, and various states may also be different. Second, refute entities and arguments. First, by analyzing that wind, etc. are not the dharma of greed, etc., it also denies that greed, etc. are the dharma produced by earth, etc. Because in the inner four elements, the realm of earth and water is called cold, the realm of heat and fire is called bile, and the realm of breathing, etc. is called wind. Therefore, the view that greed arises from earth and water, hatred arises from fire and wind, and ignorance arises from places with more water and wind is also denied by inverted reasoning. Therefore, semen, etc., as a common factor of the body's four elements, produces feelings of pleasure, etc., just like consciousness arises from the root consciousness, it is an auxiliary function, and the inner tactile sensation, as the meaning to be taken, is also an auxiliary function for the mind, but the four elements are not the proximate cause of consciousness. Otherwise, the previously co-existent support is also denied, so the four elements are not the support where greed, etc. have already been established. Second, eliminate the contradiction in the interpretation of the meaning of the scriptures. Eliminate the argument in that occasion. First, if these four elements are not the support, then it is said in the Abhidharma: "Form, etc. are made by the four elements, and these depend on the four great elements." Isn't this a contradiction? If you say so, then what is said like this is white, etc.

Moreover, it is not as stated that derivatives such as form, smell, taste, and touch rely on earth, etc., simultaneously without benefiting each other. So what is it? The statement that form, etc., rely on earth, etc., if taken from the perspective of not being simultaneous, means that those previous elements are the cause of the resulting elements, i.e., relying on the cause, the cause produces the result, which is indicated by the word "rely." Or, the current form, etc., exists inseparably with the particles of its dependent elements, therefore it is the basis or support, not the support of other previous and subsequent cause-and-effect relationships, or it is not said to rely on an inseparable entity, because it does not provide any benefit, as demonstrated above by reason. Second, dispel the argument of unproven inseparability. This is different from the views of others. First, if they exist simultaneously, then the statement that the support and the supported are inseparable is unreasonable. Even if the support is alcohol and the supported is the potency of that alcohol, they are simultaneous. If it is said that the potency of intoxication, etc., is different from alcohol, because after alcohol has been stored for a long time, it has no intoxicating potency and becomes very sour, called "tsa" (acid), in which case the alcohol still exists but has no potency, and the potency of poison, reversing the heat of fire with mantras, etc. Similarly, arising and formation, etc., are not inseparable, but separable, but simultaneous dependence is reasonable. If it is said that potency is something that is not at all different from the thing itself, such as the potency of seeds, etc., to produce sprouts, which is the nature of the seed itself, and is called potency by a word that indicates understanding, if it exists separately from the thing itself, then the seed itself is not the entity that produces sprouts, but needs something else to produce potency, and if that is the case, potency will become endless. In fact, you also agree with this, and if potency is not something different from the thing, then once the potency disappears, the thing with potency will also disappear. If the support of potency is the nature of the thing itself that exists completely, then the dependent potency will also not disappear, because it is the thing with potency itself. Therefore, when heat, etc., completely disappears, the thing with heat is no longer called fire, thus proving that it does not have heat.
