The great teachers of discourse, mostly revered as lamas by everyone, because they draw their own minds inward but do not meditate, there is not the slightest superiority compared to ordinary people. This unruly, wild mind is also very powerful, but has not obtained the qualities of wisdom and ability. Looking again and again at one's own mind, which is like meaningless, turbulent waves, generate great weariness, and then follow in the footsteps of the profound path of sacred instructions, with the reins of taming one's own mind, with a tamed, intelligent horse, with the fruits of the two benefits, achieve an affluent, pleasing state, may you quickly attain it! Among all efforts, the most important is only this, taming one's own mind. Even with a wonderful vase, a treasure of wish-fulfilling jewels, it cannot be compared, it is the very place of great qualities. Therefore, those fortunate ones who understand this meaning well, with great respect for the place of yoga of the mind, abandoning all activities, with one-pointed mind, accomplish the good and ultimate aspirations! This was written by Mipham on the tenth day of the first month of the Wood Dragon year, may it be auspicious! The Instruction Praising the Great Perfection Path Homage to the feet of Manjushri Kumara! Speak a word that is certain of the essential points. Listen, male and female yogis who have entered the Dharma path and strive in Dharma activities! Body and mind are impermanent, like mist on the mountain pass, the great fear of death may come at any time, it is uncertain, although there are many helpful preparations, there is nothing superior to familiarizing oneself with the clear light of one's own mind. The nature of mind is awareness and emptiness, the original natural state is vast and free. This decisive key point is the ultimate destination of all secret mantra paths, the essence of the yogi's realization. If you practice correctly, do it like this: While abiding in the natural state of your own awareness, manifest clear light, familiarize yourself with your own key points, and you can simultaneously cut through the great dangers of birth, death, and the bardo. If you have not made preparations for death, then meditate on this. Even if you meditate for only seven days, the wheel of karma will loosen. If you continue for years and months, you will seize the unchanging, ultimate state. All the deities, mantras, and accumulations will also be naturally perfected. If you know this, what is the use of effort on other paths? If you transform appearance and mind into the power of the ground, you can cut through all the fears of the three realms. What is the use of preparing to fight enemies in a dream? There is no other method that can overcome the fear of self-appearance. Although the law of cause and effect, dependent origination, is not deceptive, the creator of various dependent origination is

It is the very nature (of mind). When the king of mind is self-liberated in its own place, what need is there to rely on other actions? When one realizes the true meaning of the Dharma, all the tenets of the Great and Small Vehicles, like the ocean, will be naturally accomplished in the wisdom and the power of loving-kindness for others without any effort. This path enables all the qualities of wisdom, compassion, and ability to be accomplished effortlessly, like a great king, while all other paths that rely on hundreds of thousands of efforts are like accomplishing things laboriously with one's own hands. Therefore, among all the paths that are easy, quick, and decisive, this is the most wondrous and ultimate. However, due to the kindness of the victorious vidyadhara lineage, although it is as clear as daylight, only those who possess true accumulation of merit and profound wisdom, and who are endowed with supreme fortune, can engage in it to some extent. Most of those with little fortune turn away from it. Therefore, if you know the essence of this path and diligently practice it, your own mindstream will be enriched by the wealth of rare Dharma. What wise person would not strive for such enrichment? If you are saddened by seeing the waves of suffering in the illusory ocean of samsara, then rest in your own innate mind and behold the true meaning of reality. You will surely take a deep breath in great bliss. If the thought arises to accomplish as many siddhis of benefit and happiness as possible, then the rain of siddhis of immediate and long-term happiness will effortlessly dissolve into the space of mind. This illusory drama has deceived all beings. Whoever becomes accustomed to the space of unfeigned self-awareness will attain the supreme state of ultimate liberation. Therefore, firmly establish yourself in the space of mind. By simply maintaining continuous mindfulness in the unscattered, effortless nature of awareness, you can kill the three poisons, destroy the four maras, and completely sever the cliff of the six realms of samsara. However, thoughts are like a hailstorm in the sky, vainly leading people into meaningless dreams. Knowing this, if you do not lose your autonomy and awareness, then effort alone is the essence of the teaching. Having understood this, please protect it well. As the days and months pass, you will grow and receive the blessings of the three roots, which are of definite meaning, and you will enter the heart and attain fearless great bliss. Thus, on the third day of the eighth month of the Wood Dragon year, Mipham Jamyang wrote.
