The grounds of practice and the grounds of near severance are explained as the Buddha grounds. In the Kumuṭi, it says, "Severance is incomparable wisdom, near severance is great wisdom." As quoted in the scriptures, the eleventh ground is the severance of the aggregates of afflictions, and the twelfth ground is the near severance of abandoning the obscurations together with habitual tendencies. Thus it is taught. The meaning of the etymology of the Joyful One and so on. In accordance with what is said in the Ornament of Sutras and so on, the ancient scholars of India and Tibet have said that the names and meanings of the grounds are unique, as stated in the tantras. In the Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra, it says: "The great ground of all-pervading light, its nature is like the disc of the sun. The light of nectar is the second, extremely bright like the moon. The light of space is the third, abiding like space. The vajra light is the fourth, the light of that ground is pleasing to the mind. Superior intention is stable, therefore, it is called vajra. The fifth is called jewel light, abiding in empowerment. The lotus light is the sixth, growing like a lotus. The nature of the mind is pure in itself, holding without impurity. The seventh is called the light of action, desiring to perform the deeds of the Buddha. The eighth is incomparable, there is no comparison to it. The ninth is comparable, all comparisons can be distinguished separately. The tenth is called the light of wisdom, the Buddha ground is unsurpassed. The eleventh is all-knowing, the great ground is extremely bright. The twelfth knows the individual self-nature, the yoga wisdom is perfectly complete." Thus, these are said to be the twelve grounds, the first being all-pervading light, etc., because the winds of the time wheel cease, and also in terms of the result, it is shown in reverse order of cessation from old age and death, which should be understood. Therefore, in the root tantra it is said that these Buddha grounds are the sun, and in what place, in an indirect way, the twelve places are taught, such as the place where the yogi who has attained stability in the generation stage should go. These, in a direct way, are the Buddha grounds made by the yogi separating the verbal obscurations of the twelve branches of the time wheel of the completion stage, which means the sun, that is, twelve. Thus it is taught. Moreover, in the tantras.

It is said that there are different ways of establishing places, etc. In Arbuta Heruka, the nearby place and the place of Chakrasamvara are said to be places. Similarly, in Chakrasamvara, Kamarupa is a pure land, and Heruka and Mahamudra Bindu are said to be places. In Chakrasamvara, Kuluta is said to be a nearby charnel ground, and in Heruka, etc., it is said to be a nearby field. In Godavari, it is said to be a nearby place in Chakrasamvara, and in Heruka, it is said to be a nearby field. In Mahamudra Bindu, it is said to be Chandoha. In the Great Samvara Tantra, it is said to be Caritra drinking blood. In Mahamudra Bindu, it is said to be a nearby charnel ground, etc. If these differences are said to be contradictory, it is not so. There is no contradiction in establishing different names for the same thing, such as places and pure lands, and it is said in accordance with the thoughts of the beings to be tamed. For the beings to be tamed, they are divided into three types of faculties: dull, medium, and sharp. Among them, the dull faculties are further divided into lower, medium, and upper. When those with dull faculties abandon their attachment to their own homeland and wander in Jalandhara, etc., for the sake of worldly achievements, the heroes and yoginis naturally reside there, so they can obtain corresponding achievements, because the places blessed by the Buddhas are also established in the common appearance. It is not that only that place has heroes and yoginis, and it is not that they are not prevalent in other places, because it is shown that thirty-six types of yoginis reside in one village. In order to liberate those with sharp faculties from the attachment to narrow regions, sometimes it is said to be a place, and sometimes it is said to be a pure land, etc. Although it seems to be contradictory, there is actually no contradiction, and those with sharp faculties will realize it. In this region of Jambudvipa, if the dakinis meet the yoginis who are born into the Brahmin caste, etc., they can obtain achievements. It is said that in the Vajra Dakini, "The dakini is the one who proclaims together, the main deity of the Vajra Mandala is, the one who possesses wisdom is oneself, born in the birthplaces of the region." It also says, "The daughters of these pure lands, are the ones who give achievements to the heroes, always wandering at night, if they become gatherers, because it is difficult to find the place of the dakinis, they give great achievements, all the actions of the practitioners, will undoubtedly be accomplished."
