Because of having power, ninety-six I prostrated and worshiped at the lotus feet, the glorious Manjushri who has the name Manjushri Kirti, at the glorious Kalapa place, your lotus feet, for those who are terrified by the endless suffering and terrible cycle of existence, are the refuge that surpasses the cycle of existence. Thus, King Manjushri Kirti, at the abode of Brahma sages, in the Kalachakra palace, bestowed the Vajra empowerment. On the fifteenth night of the spring small month of Saga (Tibetan fourth month), the sixteen dawn moments when the daytime has not yet begun, the sun together with the four hundred and fifty million retinue of the Shakyamuni, were blessed by the Kalachakra named "Various Lords", and obtained the accomplishment of the Mudra, that is, obtained the accomplishment of the Mahamudra. Therefore, he made the prayer of Manjushri. For the sake of the liberation of sentient beings, Manjushri Kirti, the Vajra of my heart, like the stainless nature of existence pervades and abides in all the lands of existence. The king himself said that the great wisdom of his heart pervades all of samsara and nirvana, and he placed his mind in that state. Thus, by the power of the inseparable bliss and emptiness Kalachakra, may the Vajra of the minds of sentient beings themselves, manifest the stainless wisdom that pervades all of samsara and nirvana, and may they abide in the three realms of desire and so on, may all dharmas manifest in their own nature, having this meaning. Thus, making this prayer, this is based on the intention of the mind stream of the one who teaches the tantra himself, praying that all sentient beings also transform in this way, and entrusting the intention of the meaning lineage to the tantra holders. Thus, Manjushri Kirti, who benefits all sentient beings, also with the supreme compassion for the disciples to be tamed in the degenerate age, manifesting the stainless Dharma, also depends on understanding the meaning of the tantra, therefore, he explained the meaning of the Abridged Kalachakra Tantra to the requesters such as the sun chariot as it is, and bestowed the permission of the teachings to his own son, the treasure of the most excellent qualities of the White Lotus. You should write down completely and without omission all the kings of the condensed tantras, and place them in volumes. Then, having explained them according to your own wishes, you will proceed from the place of others, from wherever you first came, to the place of Avalokiteśvara. You are called the Friend of the World. The aspiration to protect the holders of the tantra from obstacles is as follows: Those who are above, that is, on the earth, the asuras who dwell on the side of the demons, and the bodhisattvas who terrify them greatly; in the human world, those who dwell in places with or without factions, all the wrathful kings with their consorts; and all the planets and guardians of the directions; those who are beneath the earth, the powerful nāga kings with their assemblies of extremely fierce consorts, whatever hosts of demons create obstacles, and all those who commit evil and ignorance, may all those who bind them in time, at every moment of every day and night, protect the helpless lords of the world who do not know the true path, so that they may attain the yoga of the true path at all times. The meaning to be expressed, that is, the vajra tantra that expresses the three tantras of the ground, path, and fruit, although named the Glorious Kālacakra Root Tantra, its words and meanings are extremely concise, yet it expresses all meanings completely. The meaning to be expressed, that is, the indivisible bliss and emptiness, Vajrasattva, the supreme deity, the union of skillful means and wisdom as one taste, the body, speech, and mind of the lord of victors, Kālacakra, the sixteen aspects of the stainless suchness of the pure part of the moon, the wisdom vajra. The purpose is that for the sake of the supreme liberation of sentient beings, the teacher Śākyamuni, the lord of victors, spoke, and the meaning that I, Mañjuśrīkīrti, have also taught, may all sentient beings abide in the unchanging supreme bliss by the merit arising from that. Until that is attained, may we cherish and respectfully bow down to that supreme bliss. Thus, the aspiration for the dedication of the merit of the condensed tantra was made. After the third condensed [tantra], up to this point, it was determined by the fourth great condensed [tantra] from the Great Commentary Stainless Light, which subdues by various means. The commentary on the fifth chapter, the Wisdom Chapter, from the Abridged Tantra, Shri Kalachakra, which originated from the twelve thousand verses, is complete. Extracted from the Primordial Buddha. The King of Tantras, named Shri Kalachakra, is complete. Secondly, the method of translation is that it is said that there have been about twenty-one different translations of this tantra, but here it was translated, proofread, and finalized by the Kashmiri Pandit Somanatha (Chandra Rakshita) and the Tibetan translator Dro Gelong Sherab Drak. Later, Gelong Shongton, in the great Sakya Monastery, consulted two Sanskrit originals from the U-Tsang region, proofread and perfected them, and finally finalized them. Through whose kindness, this supreme King of Tantras, difficult to obtain through the accumulation of many kalpas, was heard. Among them, the teachings given by King Drakpa himself to the Sun Chariot, etc., one verse after the one hundred and forty-seventh verse of the Realm Chapter, and one verse of the Sun Chariot's praise at the end of the Inner Chapter, and ten verses of the words of the compiler at the end of the Ye Chapter, plus the three verses of the Sun Chariot, totaling fifteen Sanskrit verses subtracted, the Abridged Tantra has one thousand and thirty Sanskrit verses. If it is said that four are missing, then, the verses added by the Sun Chariot, there are three in the Ye Chapter and one in the Inner Chapter, totaling four verses as a substitute. In the commentary on the World Realm Chapter, there is one verse after the eighty-ninth verse, "From then on, stars, etc.", in the supreme commentary, there are two verses of the immutable Tantra, and after the one hundred and eighty-ninth verse of the Ye Chapter, like a manifold change, there is one verse saying, "The speed of the sun's orbit is the movement of the day."
