The five eyes of the pure are: the eye of flesh born of merit, the divine eye born of meditation, and the Buddha eye, the eye of wisdom, and the five eyes of perfect wisdom. As stated in the Sutra of the Collection of Righteous Dharmas. In another sutra, it is said to be the eye of flesh, the eye of the gods, the eye of wisdom, the eye of the Dharma, and the eye of the Buddha. Similarly, the five aggregates of the mundane world are the five aggregates of form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. The five transcendental aggregates of the Buddha are: the aggregate of morality, as well as the five aggregates of concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the knowledge and vision of liberation, that is, the five ordinary aggregates are pure and without defilement, and are the five aggregates without outflows. Similarly, the five elements such as earth, the five senses such as the eye, the five objects such as form, the five functional senses such as the anus, and the functions of the five functional senses such as speech. The sutra says that there are six aggregates, senses, and mindfulness, so adding the sixth aggregate, the aggregate of wisdom, becomes the six aggregates; adding the mind sense becomes the six senses; and adding the realm of wisdom becomes the six realms. Similarly, the body sense and its function, plus the supreme sense, plus the emission of semen, becomes six. The six recollections are recollection of the Buddha, similarly recollection of the Dharma, recollection of the Sangha, recollection of generosity, recollection of morality, and recollection of the gods. The seven branches of enlightenment refer to: the branch of right mindfulness of enlightenment, similarly, the branches of right mindfulness of discrimination of Dharma, diligence, joy, tranquility, concentration, and equanimity. Offerings are seven, that is, the seven branches of accumulating merit, which are prostration, offering, confession, rejoicing, requesting the turning of the wheel of Dharma, requesting not to pass into Nirvana, and completely dedicating the roots of virtue to unsurpassed enlightenment. The eightfold noble path is: right view, similarly right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. Thus, these are the eight branches of the path.

Each should enter well separately, etc. The eight with form are earth, water, fire, wind, form, smell, taste, and touch. These are based on the assumption of substantial matter composed of enduring particles. The eight liberations are: when a meditator perceives form in oneself and views all external forms of the environment as empty, this is the first liberation of seeing form in form, which is also emptiness, the emptiness of all forms. Viewing both one's own internal form and external forms as empty is the liberation of seeing formlessness in form. Similarly, viewing the agreeable and disagreeable, and viewing all actions as empty, is the third liberation. And viewing the four realms of infinite space, infinite consciousness, nothingness, and neither perception nor non-perception as empty, is the eighth liberation. If the cessation of perception and feeling is added, it becomes nine. However, if the first two are counted as one, it becomes eight. All of these are meditated upon as the emptiness of all forms. Thus, the eight liberations of meditation, and the nine branches called "apertures," are the supreme scriptures. "Aperture" refers to the distinction residing in the number nine. The nine branches of the Buddha's scriptures are: discourses, songs, prophecies, verses, self-utterances, origins, such occurrences, birth stories, and extensive explanations. If the marvelous, definitive, and narrative are separated here, the branches of scripture become twelve. However, when consolidating into nine, the definitive is included in the meaning to be understood by all, as the discourses and others definitively establish all knowable phenomena. The narrative is also included in the origin or birth story, and the extensive explanation and the marvelous are the same in the Mahayana, so there are nine, as some say. The Mahasanghika school says that the origin, narrative, and definitive are all included in everything, so there are nine, as Bhava Bhadra said. The ten perfections and the grounds are the measure of direction. Similarly, the directional powers of the Buddhas are the ten powers, and the ten clear powers and the twelve limbs.
