Secondly, it is to realize without obscuration. Although there is no difference in the cessation of the twelve links of dependent origination, it is not like the nirvana desired by the Lesser Vehicle, which is like the extinguishing of a fire when the fuel is exhausted, a non-substantial passing into sorrow. Rather, it refers to the exhaustion of the habitual tendencies of transformation in all phenomena of aggregates, elements, and sense bases, manifesting the unchanging great bliss, the body of unobstructed wisdom. Due to this power, it is considered that the root of cyclic existence is the changing and arising, and stopping it is the characteristic of the Vajrayana path. Furthermore, others say: If yogis become Buddhas by destroying the desire for change, then why do the Buddhas subdue the four maras: the Lord of Death, the aggregates, the afflictions, and the son of the gods? If the four maras are not subdued, merely destroying the desire for change will not lead to Buddhahood, will it? To address this thought that arises in some, it is said: Here, destroying the desire for change is the same as subduing the four maras. Apart from that, it is not the case that one becomes a Buddha by subduing another so-called mara externally, as the ignorant think. Because, whichever comes first, the mara to be subdued or the Buddha who subdues, it is impossible to subdue. If one becomes a Buddha first and then subdues the mara later, then the mara cannot harm the Buddha who is free from obscurations, because the mara has already been subdued. What else needs to be subdued? Just as after obscurations have been abandoned, there is nothing more to abandon. If, even after becoming a Buddha, one is still harassed by the mara and therefore subdues it, then the Buddha does not have the very nature of being without obscurations, because one is still accompanied by the obscuration of the mara's harassment. If one subdues the mara before becoming a Buddha and then becomes a Buddha afterwards, that is not possible, because subduing the mara requires the destruction of all obscurations, and no one in this world other than a Buddha can destroy all obscurations. If one subdues the mara without being a Buddha, then why don't other samsaric beings also subdue the mara, whether they are Buddhas or not? Therefore, it is not the case that one subdues the mara first and then becomes a Buddha afterwards. What

If it is said that becoming a Buddha and subduing demons happen simultaneously without any precedence, that is not the case. In the moment when there is a demon, one does not immediately become a Buddha, because the mind is obscured. In the moment when one is a Buddha, there is no demon, because all obscurations have been eliminated. Therefore, the nature of beings' body, speech, mind, and the imprints of ignorance are the four demons. Among these, the obscuration of the body is the skandha demon during the waking state; the obscuration of speech is the klesha demon during the dream state; the obscuration of mind is the death demon during deep sleep; and the external entry of ignorance is the deva-putra demon. The so-called external entry of ignorance refers to beings enjoying the fruits of their own virtuous and non-virtuous actions. However, those who do not examine or fully understand this, those with childish minds who crave the pleasures of samsara, think that external gods and others cause happiness and suffering. This is the entry of ignorance. Such a situation is indicated by the words of the deva-putra, the lord of the desire realm, who deceives beings, and it will occur. Here, the words of the deva-putras are that the power of the planet Moon will cause the minds of beings to become virtuous or non-virtuous. Similarly, the power of the Sun and the auspicious planets, Rahu, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu's head, Rahu's tail, and the combination of planets, dates, and constellations, the power of the combination of times, will cause one to become virtuous or non-virtuous. Similarly, those who enjoy calculating the power of divination believe that at the time of entering battle, one will gain victory through the power of divination. Also, the power of the eight yoginis, and the power of the direction of movement of the stars, Rahu, and violent planets, etc., through these one will gain victory on the battlefield. Similarly, even for the Shravaka disciples who have become Buddhas, the external entry of ignorance, as explained in the treatises on logic and so on, is the belief that through dependent origination or close signs, the virtue and non-virtue of beings will change. Similarly, the words of other deva-putras are the grace of the gods.
