Because both cessation and its cause and path are hidden from oneself and unknown, one cannot teach others as they are. If those who have lost their way do not understand the language of the guide, then there is no guide. Therefore, the guide himself must know the path of liberation and guide the way in their respective languages for the sake of guiding. Seeing these who have lost their way and are lost, frightened and confused because they have not found the way, those who have not lost their way will not be afraid, but will guide the way well. If the Bodhisattva is the master of the ten bhumis, and must be accomplished through the ten perfections, having obtained the ten powers, but wanders in samsara due to the ripening of karma, then at that time there will be no liberation for sentient beings. It is not reasonable for someone who does not know the way to guide someone who has not seen the way, just like a blind person leading a blind person. Therefore, the Bodhisattvas take birth in samsara because of great compassion for the benefit of sentient beings. When the Lord of the World, Avalokiteśvara himself, deeply entered hell for the benefit of sentient beings, the hosts of demons said: Who, though liberated from the bonds of existence, still holds onto existence for the sake of sentient beings? He shows the meaning of emptiness, but does not abandon the fruits of karma at the time. The defilements of the mind, burned by the fire of true wisdom, are constantly moistened with true compassion. Actions are immeasurable, delighting in the benefit of sentient beings, we bow to that Buddha. This was also said at the beginning of the first chapter, and the meaning of this passage is: Although completely liberated from all the bonds of existence, he holds onto existence for the benefit of sentient beings with great compassion, and he understands the meaning of emptiness, that all dharmas are without self-nature. Although he shows the suchness of the profound realm of practice, he does not abandon the fruits of karma when the time of dependent origination comes, but does not waste them, as it is said in the Commentary on the Mind: Knowing that all dharmas are empty, whatever relies on karma and its fruit, this is more wonderful than wonderful, this is more amazing than amazing. Like that. Burning the defilements of one's own mind, all the faults such as attachment arising from the root of grasping at self, with the fire of true wisdom that realizes selflessness.

However, always moistening the continuum of other sentient beings with pure love; the assembly of sentient beings cannot understand by observing or contemplating his actions, to that Buddha who is always delighted to benefit sentient beings, we prostrate from the depths of our hearts. Thus, possessing many qualities such as great compassion, skill in means, and attainment of the ten powers, and burning away the obscurations of afflictions, the nature of benefiting sentient beings is inconceivable. For the most part, Bodhisattvas, in order to take on births in samsara held by skillful means for the purpose of holding onto a portion of the obscurations of afflictions, are not the self-nature of afflictions. The Buddhas who have abandoned the ground of ignorance and habitual tendencies and the obscuration of transformation, although appearing in various ways, have no designation of being born in samsara because there is no movement of conceptual thought. Thus, if Bodhisattvas do not take on births in samsara, then other sentient beings will not have the opportunity to meet the guide, the Bodhisattva, and therefore will not know the path and will never be certain to be liberated from samsara. Therefore, here, Bodhisattvas should first stabilize the mind of enlightenment. To this, there are two bindings to the mind of enlightenment: one is being bound by the wisdom of discriminating investigation and being separated from attachment, and the other is being bound by the path of attachment through the wisdom of skillful means. The example of these is like binding mercury, there are two ways of binding mercury: one is to make the mercury not move by the means of fumigation and application, and the second is by the means of boiling it with iron and the like and burning it with fire. Among these, the mercury bound by the first means, if melted by a strong fire, will stay for a little while and then escape as it can; but the mercury bound by the second means will never escape even if melted by a strong fire. Moreover, there are five states of mercury being bound: smoke and fine sound, the frog jumping and trembling, and not trembling, as it is said. Similarly, through the power of meditation, the binding of the Bodhisattva bindu also has differences of low, medium, high, and supreme. The person who is like mercury being bound by the means of fumigation and application is.
